I seem to remember that this deal was on the am talk stations when it happened back in 2019 but it was largely ignored and quickly made into just another fake news conspiracy by the mainstream at the time.
I remember stupid co-workers that trusted facebook’s word at the time of the story being a lie and not at all worried about identity theft because of it. Not to long after that one of them had problems with his phone being hacked.
I deleted FB, Instagram, Snapchat, all that junk about 3 years ago. I thought I would miss it but I don't at all. Now whenever I meet up with old friends and they tell me about places they went or things they did we can actually have a conversation about it because I didn't know about any of it. This world was and still would be better off without social media.
