The truck only has 280K miles. It shouldn’t be worn out already should it?

I wouldn't think so. Check the jaws as I mentioned, and try pressure washing it. Its possible that dirt is affecting it. Is there an adjustment bolt on the front? Its possible that its out of adjustment and that may be causing it

    Bent.
    Grease sticking.
Scrathes in the jaw where it should be smooth.
One off the above or a combo.

You could try Speedco. I don't trust TA to change a wiper blade.

As has been mentioned, a thorough cleaning.

Too much grease in the jaws will effect their operation. And it looks like you've a good amount on / in / around there.

I'm REAL paranoid about 5th wheel maintenance. If you could find an actual repair shop, they'd probably be able to tell you.

I recently ditched my JOST for a new Holland. I like the locking mechanism better, and the bolt on the front, when seated, is a sure fire second visual that the horseshoe is locked in preventing release.

Can Blue Beacon clean this thing? It would take a few cans of degreaser and make my driveway a toxic waste dump. I’d rather not mess up my own property.

Is there an adjustment bolt on the front of the 5th wheel?

Half hour with a flat scraper and cardboard box, but it’s tough getting all the funk out from beneath.
