6 days of CDL training. Who would hire me?

6 day driving school, ha ha ha, what has this industry come to. 6 days, well is there an Electrician company that
would hire me, with 6 days training. I think i would look like Daffy Duck all burnt up, Ha Ha Ha

 

The way some drive out here, you’d think they only went through a 6 day or less course.

 

Unpopular opinion but driving a truck really isn't that hard. A ran a few loads after having not sat in a truck in several years and within a block I was already bored out of my tree.

 

If you would go to company sponsored training then you take care of both your problems in one shot. You know you are getting good training because the company will make sure of it so you do not wreck their truck and you will have a job with them already the day you get your cdl. All they want in return is you work for them for 6-12 months, no out of pocket money for the training.

 

A class doesn't end in a CDL. The state mandated CDL test does. You would need to check with your state to see if they will allow you to take the test after a six day course. Since someone in your state is offering a six day course I would have to think the answer is yes.

 

That's not so unusual though. I remember when I was young in Texas you could just rent a U-Haul truck and go take the test. And what's really crazy is you didn't need a class A license to drive a rental truck so you didn't even have to have anyone go with you.

I'm sure there are plenty on this forum who never had to pay a trucking school. Those schools only teach how to pass the test anyway. That said, six days sounds like a scam to me. Could you even memorize all those pre-trip incantations in six days?

 

Years ago we had to watch out for the 4 wheelers, not anymore, Have too watch out for Truck Drivers now.
