I’m curious what’s going to happen when the EV truck hits a patch of ice….

I’m not sure what year it started, but these new trucks won’t allow you to spin the wheels. If traction control senses wheel spin it cuts power. Freightliner and Volvo have a button to push if you need to spin the wheels.

Guess that will cover wheel slippage on a pull, wonder what the EV will do when it hits black ice in a curve….?

I can definitely see some pencil pusher behind the desk disabling the driver's ability turn off regenerative braking. There will be a bunch of poorly trained drivers who will get a crash course on the importance of neutral throttle in crappy conditions!

New cars control steering inputs as part of the traction control. Cuts power as soon as the g-forces of the car going a different direction then the wheel and then the electric motor takes over. Our 2014 Camaro SS has an electric steering box on the rack. Very hard to get that thing to go squirrelly in the wet.

So when zero traction is available it should be able to maintain control…?

I’m sure not on ice if it is an instant thing . But the traction control senses possible zero traction long before the person behind the wheel does. Right after we bought that car we pulled out of a automatic carwash one day that had a trail of water from it out into the lane of traffic. Busy fast moving road. Half Hammered it like a dummy and it felt like a 4 cylinder vega and never spun out with wet tires. Woulda done a serious sideways swag fishtail and possible 360 in our old Firebird. Lol
