Documents relating to a drivers activities during off duty hours are not required by any regulation that I have been able to find including 395.11 (c). 395.11 (c) says a driver must produce required supporting documents in his possession = (iii) Each expense receipt related to any on-duty not driving time;

The most important thing to realize about this "breaking" the law by "falsifying" sleeper berth as being off duty is that it is completely irrelevant to public safety, which is what the HOS was invented for in the first place. So I dare to say that the cop who issued the citation weighing 7 demerit points - compromising someone's well being for nothing - was an incompetent moron. A pseudo cop. Get him off the service to wash dishes somewhere!
When I feel like, I log off duty when I am in the sleeper and also log sleeper when I am off duty and I don't feel bad about it either. No one is getting hurt because of that.
Besides, all this discussion is laughable and I am taking part in it. I really have to rethink how I spend my off duty time. Is it off duty? Should I log the time spent on TR on line 4 or not....? What would the moron cop say?Last edited: Aug 18, 2018
