Some ELDs don't calculate correctly, I have found. Actually, I've heard that about some people involved in enforcement, too, but that's another discussion that's been aired far too much, as from as I'm concerned.

You can do 2/8 or 8/2 or 8/8. I do splits all the time and usually keep my driving time to around 4-6 hours never even approaching that 8 hour mark where a 30 minute break would be required. Since the 2 and 8 meet and exceed the 30 minute break, over a 3 day haul I can save 1.5 hours off those 30 minute breaks.

However, I would argue that your way is easier and less stressful if you are capable of swapping sleep schedules easily and have plenty of time on a load.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
