What is simple to you might not be so simple to me and some other people. There is no need to make sarcastic comments to people who are trying to learn. Making sarcastic comments to people who are trying to learn discourages other people from asking questions. The only stupid question is the one not asked.

Moosetek has it right. It's all about perspective, in this case from the truck not the dock.

So when I was in school, all the ever taught was the 90 degree back. That's what I had to do to pass the CDL-A exam. Then I went to go pull flatbed for Western. What they don't teach you in school is how much more you'll use the 45, as depicted in your 2nd drawing more. If backing a spread axle, the 45 is the only method you're supposed to use, especially if you're loaded pretty good. Also, in my experience the 45 gives the most space on the blind side and you won't have to turn the wheel as much. That 3rd pic you got is that a 25 degree angle? Lol I think I've used that method more than the 90. I've almost never used the 90 since my trainer undid that habit.

270 and 315 degrees, to be correct, but yes - I get what you’re saying.

A blind side back would be 45 and 90 ,

    Driver side back 270 and 315 -

I’ve always understood the 45/90 as a reference to the face of the dock, from drivers side, and blind side backing as simply “45/90 degree blindside backing “

    So - chicken/egg follow up question -

Is a straight line back a 0 degree or 180 degree backing maneuver?

Please support your answer with complete workings.

    0 degree while backing
    180 degree when pulling forward.

    Why?

    Because I said so lol...truly I don't know.

Your first Pic is a 90 deg back.

Your second Pic is a 45 deg back, you have it marked as a 135 deg angle.
