....that I'm sure have been answered before. A search didn't find the answers though...

    1) My 30 minute break. Should this be logged as on duty not driving or off duty, or sleeper? I have read both answers on the internet

    2) When I make a quick pit stop for a coffee, take a leak, and stretch the legs, should I log that 15 break as on duty not driving? (Seems like that's what I need to so)

    3) If I take that 15 minute break at a rest area, is putting the mile marker and highway number adequate or do I need the towns name for the remarks section on the logs?

Thanks ya'll! I'm sure to have more questions....

    Breaks are off duty.

Log where it is or list the nearest city.

    1) Your 30 min break cannot be on duty (on duty is not a break). It can be SB if you're in the sleeper resting, otherwise off duty or a combination of off and sb.

    2) If you are resting in the sleeper, log sb. If you are not, have you been relieved of duty? If so, log off duty.

    3) from fmcsa:

Sleeper or off duty as much as possible to preserve maximum hours available.

Thanks. That makes sense. I guess I have a couple corrections to make. Glad I asked.

your headline made me think that you had an actual logging question,as in a stick hauler.Having been around a few in my day,i was going to suggest that you take it easy coming out of the woods loaded especially w/a double rack.also if you get loaded in the mud on the side of a hill, just point the truck down the hill and hope the trailer does not beat you down it.you will think that you will need to clean out your drawers.

what about loading time? Is that time considered on-the-job (count towards your driving time) or not?

If you're not loading the truck yourself I'd log it as off duty or sleeper. That's what I do. Save those hours!

Actually breaks can be line 1 OR 2. Your 30 min can be either or. Personally the only time I log line 1 is when I'm on home time.
