You never know until you ask, right? First, thank you all for the info you share. My goal is to be an oo asap and I want to succeed. I thought a great way to learn to would be from someone already succeeding.
I thought there may be an oo out there that may want to take a break or just can't drive right now but would still like to have income coming in.
I want to learn from doing. I mean everything, finding loads, paperwork, accounting, everything I can.
I am a company driver now with reefer and dry box 53' experience, and a little flatbed. I am 45 yrs and not stupid. I ran businesses in my previous life. I am a hard worker and not worried about home time. I'm out to make money. I am impeccable with my equipment and mechanically inclined. I am a newbie by most standards, 6 mos exp but have previous experience. my driving record is perfect and never had a dui and no accidents. I have a 100% on time record and am known as a runner.
Maybe this is an opportunity that could turn into something bigger for both of us. I am a veteran of desert storm. I won't screw you over or be screwed over. I want a situation that is fair for both of us. So there it is.
A good opportunity for the right o/o?

Have a really nice nest egg around 20k if you have never driven if you know the business 10k. But sounds like you are just starting.
Shuvelhed1 Thanks this. -
you may want to consider this as an option.
One option may be the Schnieder choice program. Here you will book your own freight.
Before people get all up in the cool aid, I do know personally people who are in this program and do very well with it. Make good revenue and have a solid take to the bank. Like anything else, it is what you make of it.
with a good business background, it could be a good intro to owning a truck.ralphbohm, Shuvelhed1 and QuietStorm Thank this. -
I thought there was a waiting list time for choice
Shuvelhed1 Thanks this. -
It seems they have opened the gates agian.
one thing I do know, they are only taking lease plan people. they stopped the bring your truck like 6 or so months ago.
Heres my take on the wait list, they only want to do lease operators for now, they did not have enough trucks to put into service.
The lease trucks have a pretty good spec and reasonable lease rate. The Freightliners are the only ones you can do a short term on, the petes, kw and volvos are all long term.
so it gives you a chance to test it out, get you toe in and see if it is for you.
All this is via the peoplethat i know that run on the program.
It seems to be a real close match to Landstar's program.Shuvelhed1 Thanks this. -
Landstar doesnt lease tractors.

You may be genuine but what I noticed immediately is this:
You want access to my little black book with all the contacts and all the numbers. That will not come quickly or easily to anyone.AtticusRoad, nax, wore out and 4 others Thank this. -
AtticusRoad Thanks this.

True, at landstar they don't lease tractors. at one time they did have a program to help you purchase one, don't know if they still do that. I know it was very hard to qualify for.
