So while I was on my way south from Buffalo, NY to Atlanta yesterday, I got assigned a load that was waiting for confirmation reply. Well not being able to get to the message reply due to driving all day, I was called by no less than 5 different people. The load is a Whirlpool load going to North Carolina and apparently is critical enough that it required 2 different Fleet Mgrs, a Group Manager, a Load Coordinator, and finally a Customer Service Rep to call me and verbally confirm with me that I could carry the load. Well unusual as it is to get a call from ANYONE at Van Buren on a Saturday it just got better as the details emerged.

Apparently, according to the GM that called me, I am on "loan" from my group to her group that is SouthEast US. This account is the most important that USA has and it's imperative that there is no service failures at either end. She said pickup and drop off times were in stone and the trip is scheduled to require a straight drive overnight with little or no wiggle room for stops. Apparently also according to the CSR that called me, arrangements have been made for me to take my 10 at customer property at the final. She even gave me the cell phone number of the GM which I'm supposed to call immediately should there be a breakdown or any delay.

Seems a lot of fuss over a load but I've never had this many detailed instructions on one. I suspect I'm either covering down for a dedicated account driver or this is a high value load. Opinions?

someone screwed the pooch on it and this load is likely a last-ditch effort to keep the account.

you don't get that much upper brass involved unless someone did something REALLY incompetently.

Either what the other users posted here is true or someone quit that was running that dedicated route/customer. Whirlpool is one of the bigger customers USA has but I did not know they had dedicated drivers for it. Goodyear, International Paper, Georgia Pacific, and Dana come to mind when you talk about dedicated routes or big customers for USA.

As much as it pains me to say it, I believe this is actually a Whirlpool screwup not a USA Truck one. While I was there I was part of something like this. I was told the company was doing Whirlpool a favor and to just get the load delivered. :biggrin_2559:
