A sad day when I’m in a fleet truck with a boat anchor for a motor grossing near the limit on weight, yet i’m regularly outpulling W900’s and the like pulling grain trailers on hills, or even on flat ground from a stop…then tanker yankers blows past us both like we’re sitting still

What you don’t know is that those grain haulers and hoppers probably outweigh you by 20k or more

Were the tankers large cars pulling non-placard tankers? If so, those are fertilizer haulers and they don't let any grass grow under their feet.

Also, research ag weight exemptions around the midwest. In KS they can be 90k with a permit while we're limited to 85.5k.

I took a legal load for the interstate down to KC today at 80500 , felt like a light load after getting accustomed to being licensed for 89k and that gets pushed .
When I started legal gross was 73280 and my personal opinion is these higher weight limits beat the hell out of roads but I don't make the rules .

Has the thought ever crossed your mind that the slower the speed the better the fuel mileage? I’ve passed a lot of big rides lately that I typically wouldn’t, but when fuel is close to 4$ per gallon and you’re the one paying for it you tend to act a little differently, you’ll learn this one day grasshopper……maybe.

Absolutely correct. Also being against the governor the whole time. My old company used me and a few others as a test and bumped our governed speed up from 77 to 82. I gained MPG by not being against the governor the whole time running around Kansas and Colorado.

Seems to me that depends, at least in part, on gearing.

Ohhhh my lol ...my company ride is ungovernered with a big cat but I see no reason to run it hard when I get paid by the hour and unless it's close to quiting time and I'm empty on a dry road you won't see me exceeding the speed limit by much .
The thought of having to stop quik at 90 k is something I keep in mind .
One thing I've I noticed right about chaff haulers is most are in a big hurry ...im not and take my time because if the unthinkable happens I don't wanna be in court for driving like an idiot .

This is why @cdavis188 is passing hoppers. I used to load to the bows and roll out headed for KS at about 98k gross. It was nice getting paid by the ton.
