    I got a dui 26 years ago in Nebraska and that was the end of beer in my pick up , I drink most of my beer in the garage .
    Most of my old pals in Fargo got their dwi going home from the town hall in west fargo after they got off work at cargill.

    My town and Fargo are opposite examples of growth in a city. In 1960, the populations were 43k and 46k respectively. Today Fargo is at 133k while Salina has been pretty stagnant in the 40’s for the past 40 years

    it certainly does appear that. A lot of people are leaving the big cities for the small to medium size towns and cities more than they ever have… Really can’t blame them because too much riftraft and garbage is going on in the big cities and a lot of people are tired of it…

    Unfortunately for better or worse, we just haven’t grown much since Schilling Air Force Base closed in the 60’s. Maybe 10k people at the most. It’s not like everyone’s flocking to central Kansas. Nothing much ever happens here and honestly that’s the way i like it. It’s a quiet and laidback place to live while having access to decent healthcare and education unlike a lot of other rural areas in the country. Not much super violent crime happens in my town either. It’s actually big news if there’s a homicide or something

    I've always liked salina and I left fargo for omaha in 1990 mostly because fargo had a very poor trucking market , it was hard to get home under a load and even harder to get out of when potatoes and turkeys wernt moving , I think that has changed now but all my relation and friends have either died off or moved away so have no reason to go back .
    When I lived there most of the rural towns in eastern nd and western minn. Were still doing ok but they are dying a slow death now .

    5 weeks in at stans now and gotta say I'm impressed !
    If ya live near a jack links plant you will make good money and be home every 5 to 7 days for 2 to 3 days .
    I've been pushing my 70 in 6 days and they send me home and I tell them when I'm coming back out ...never any push back .
    All drop and hook at jack links plants in and out .
    Dam nice paychecks and all my health , dental and vision insurance goes in next week .
    They keep ya busy then send ya home .

    Will say tho that this isn't a job for those that can't handle repetition or lots of 2 lane rural travel ...if you live near omaha ne. , laurens iowa. , huron sd , new glarus wis , minong wis or Mankato minn apply at stans ...you will make money and have good benefits...and be home often .

    @bzinger

    I see Stans has been hiring in my area and I think I may apply. Do you ever go through the Cedar Rapids area?

    I am not aware of any Jack Links around here, so not sure what they have going on, but based on your reviews and what I am reading on their site, it seems like it might be a good fit.
