Mine is the v6 as well and it puts out 306 hp , I think it will outrun my 5.3 silverado and yes 22 mpg out of a full size 4wd pick up is hard to beat and I don't need a hemi to haul a mower or a case of beer .
With good maintenance those engines are known go over 400k too unlike hemis that seldom go further than 200k before the lifters fail .austinmike, Feedman, Dale thompson and 2 others Thank this.

It’s 306 hp but it’s not impressive with a horse trailer or a tractor behind it. But scooting around town it’s great and it rides good. If you really go easy on it I have averaged 25. But the the wife drives it and the avg is back down to 20austinmike, Feedman, Dale thompson and 3 others Thank this.

Mine will be babied and never haul anything heavy , unlikely the 4wd will ever be used and spent 3 days last week under coating it ...when I'm on vacation at Xmas it will get new rubber and all 3 boxes will get new fluid ...headed home from minong wis plant now and will pull into the underwood iowa tmw afternoon with about 3200 miles for 6 days .austinmike, hope not dumb twucker, Feedman and 3 others Thank this.

I bought my Chevy pickup for $4500. 96 K2500 with 350 V8. Extended cab, 8' bed. I've put about 2k into it between a bunch of fluid changes and suspension work. Only one spot of rust on the passengers side. No regrets. I'd rather pay $6500 for an older truck and repairs vs $65000 for something that will probably fall apart in 10 years. I plan on keeping mine completely stock.

Only real issue with this 350 Vortec is when the fuel injectors need addressed, it's a rather expensive job. Because the whole intake has to come off to access it. And obviously when you put it back together you're not going to reuse all the old crap

and don't ask me about gas mileage in that thing austinmike, Dale thompson, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. austinmike, Dale thompson, bzinger and 2 others Thank this.
