I got all the stuffed sorted out worth Millis and start training 9/22/14 in Trenton.

Now I need my DOT physical and CDL Permit.

    My questions:

Where do I study for the permit?
What is the absolute minimum tests I need to take/pass before I go to school? (in case I fail some)

Im drawing a blank right now, I'm sure I'll have more questions

Call M.T.I. and ask them what you need to prepare for the school. If they can't give you specific information or guide you to the correct places to get the information, then find a better school.

The cdl test is nothing anymore. Go to a driving license place, go in and ask for a cdl book. Cost like 2 bucks. Study and when you think you ready, go take the test. It's all multiple choice. If you fail the test, no biggie they will let you take it again(now you know how the test is, knocks the nerves off you ). My son(took test three times) didn't know jack about trucks and still was able to get his permit(good for six months). Now the driving part a little different, but won't have to drive until you go back. Don't need a physical until you go back for your license or if your employer needs it. I think it was something like 50 bucks for his license. The schools are helpful I guess, but you don't really need them. Find you a local guy or a friend of a friend that's local and just ask if you might ride with him sometimes. Tell them what you wanting to do. You might get a bunch of heck no's, but their might be one that says sure. There is always a different route that can be taken.

Wow. Admitting that you're a moron is the first step. Lol. When I was new, just like all of us, we didn't know what we were doing either. The only test you have to take is the written test, which nowadays on a computer with multiple choice. That's it. That's what you need to take. Millis will teach you how to pass the actual CDL test, and I think (he did when I went there many years ago) Mike Millis did them. You can pick up a learners manual at your state/local dmv.

you can get all the practice test you want online, and you should be able to get a cdl manual pdf from your state. take the paractice test over and over and you will do fine.

Did you get the email with all the documents attached yet? One of them will say everything you need to bring. I found the cdl manual in pfd form on the dots website. The email says cdl permit, air brakes, and combination vehicles are the tests you need to take.
