Sorry to hear about that. I only recommend a lawyer at this point to keep your interest in focus with those who you will deal with.

I had a truck get hit a long time ago and went through all kinds of crap with my insurance.

We learned a lot because of that.

first off you have to stay on top of the insurance, your insurance agent should ask you about stuff in the truck, and make sure you have gap insurance on those items that can get damaged in the accident.

the other thing is that the value of the truck is sometimes subjective, the insurance may say it is worth X but you want Y to replace it, this is where you need to look at your insurance every year to see if there is a gap in the replacement costs of the rig.

I've also added revenue loss insurance, it is out there and many agents won't talk about it but it has helped make life a little easier for us in case something happens and we lose a truck.

Make sure a lawyer is involved on your behalf. Not to screw the other guy, but to make sure the other drivers insurance doesn't screw you. That insurance company will only pay what they absolutely have to, and not a dime more. A lawyer will make sure you get a fair settlement.

News article, something like that normally gets covarge. The pics and the article could help in insurance.

Perfectly true, Accidental. A claim like this might be enhanced by a professional, a lawyer? I would. Insurance companies often withhold information about the benefits for victims in the policy of their client, and a lawyer will drag that out of them.

I want to ask about your comment on renting a truck, Penske or others. What's the situation with the Authority, IFTA, insurances, so on? Thanks in advance. J

Walter, I'm still curious about the conditions that had you sitting on I-40 - can you give that? Thanks.

I would not recommend giving the details of the accident in this forum or to anyone, until your lawyer advises otherwise.
