I would simply slowly drive past the dock hang right, hug the wall to the right of me and make a left right before the wall ahead now the dock will be on my drivers side and I can back into it.

Black line would be my route.

Hug the right wall until the rear of the trailer is about halfway between the opening to the dock. Then swing to the left wall of the alley, and hug it in reverse until you can swing your truck around the curve on the left before the alley. If your trailer is going to hit the passenger side wall, you pulled too far into the alley. If your trailer is going to hit the driver's side wall, you didn't pull in far enough. Once you're lined up in that opening, you want to keep the trailer as close as you can to the driver's side wall.

Hes got cardboard baling recycling stuff on that right side of dock. Going to be tighter than a young wife... er, forget I said that.

There is also that drop ramp into the dock that might pull on the truck a little bit. The more I think about that spot, the less I like it. Thats one reason I stick to Pharmacy loads.

I know I’m late to the game, but I agree with @x1Heavy to an extent. It’s not really bad once you’re used to it, but for the first couple times it could be uncomfortable at least. And that’s assuming there isn’t a bunch of other stuff in your way, which is entirely likely at a grocery store, and can change from day to day.

I used the measuring tape tool on Google Earth to pull up some (approximate) dimensions for everyone interested to look over. I’ve included overall length of the loading dock, retaining wall length, opening length, and alley width, as well as including the (again, approximate) length of the truck pictured in the dock, which appears to be a 53’ with sleeper.
