Id say get an 86" sleeper. (Only kw's offer them)
Make sure you get a truck with apu equipped.
Having a headache rack will help you carry extra equipment, even a couple of bycicles for some beach or river riding when available.
Plan with the company your joining and stop early, drive out early out of truck stops. Walmart will become your second home after the truck.
While passing time in the truck, plan activities for your time off, get some cooking programs or french/german - whatever rosetta stone on your laptop, that would make it interesting to learn together and give you more to enjoy as a couple
You can "potentially" gross over $350,000 a year with your own truck

My entire family is in the medical field. Either nurses, doctors, therapist.
You said it exactly " It sounds like One frying pan to another maybe, at least a change and get to see the country"
I was in banking & my wife was in real estate.
Trucking is like any other job. Good and bad days but you get to see the country.
Thursday we were in Sacramento eating Mexican for lunch. Today it's Cuban in Miami.
This job has given us favorite restaurants across the country. Places my wife likes to shop. See family we didn't see as much before.
My wife gets to see her grandma in Joplin, MO more often thanks to this job. Cost to us $0. -
As Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit says: "The greatest adventure is what lies ahead!"

I'm a student starting school tomorrow. As part of my employment agreement I'll be teaming for six months. Good or bad, I'm fine with it, except that I'm told there'll be no thirty minutes available for my daily walk. Exercise is imperative and so this concerns me. Can someone who knows teaming tell me if this is the case, that I won't find 30 minutes in each day when the truck isn't rolling so I can do some quick aerobic fitness? I'll be dead in six months! Thanks for setting this straight for me.

you are req by law within 8 hrs to take a 30 min break now.....(new HOS law)
Skydivedavec and The Challenger Thank this. -

Im very new to school too... and I hope to have time to move around phsically also... I hope that the truck stop gym thing catches on and spreads quickly.
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
As Giggles said, make sure your trainer/partner gives you the 30 minutes you are "by-law" allowed to have.
I start school tomorrow too.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
I'm familiar with the new 30 min break HOS rule. But that will have to be shared, I'm guessing here, with the decision of do I use it to nap? eat? exercise? or shower? If two drivers can only drive 11 hours each day, that equals 22 hours, leaving (by my math) 2 hours on the table. Does the truck ever stop? This is the only disturbing thing about teaming to me.
