So in your opinion there should be zero responsibility on the employees who tolerate the treatment? It’s all 100% on the evil owner who “forces” people to work like that?
I’ve done a lot of stupid stuff when I was hauling livestock but my actions were all on me. There were times I stayed awake for a couple days and there were times when I said I was too tired to do what was being asked of me. Even pulling a pneumatic our backhaul was an Ag load and you could get a lot done. There were times we’d do back to back Ag loads so we could get a 34 hour reset in without shutting down and then we’d leave with a food grade load and a fresh 70. But there again I knew the risks I was signing up for. It was my choice to run like that.
I’m not saying there aren’t bad owners. I simply don’t think all the blame lies on the owner here unless the accident was 100% caused by equipment failure. And your last sentence above, standing for something would’ve been more appropriate if all you drivers simply chose to not work there anymore and walked off the job. Hoping there’s a lawsuit and a big payout now because someone likely pushed beyond their limits isn’t standing up for something.
AG Exempt (theoretically) and moral duties.
