I struck out on four CLD A jobs at beverage companies.
A were trainee positions that required a CDL A before you start.
Every single person at both the hiring events and individual interviews were under age 30.
Every single person working at all 4 plants/DC's and doing the interviews were under 30.
Despite, passing all the physical exercises and tests and answering questions perfectly to the point hiring managers would respond to my answers as "perfect", I was eliminated the very same day and received e-mails stating such 24 hours later.

Well, how about LTL ?
Why the desire for beverage distribution? -
I prefer home daily, and I am a recent CDL grad with no experience, which even for trainee positions was not an issue obviously.
Talked to most large and medium carriers, but only found two that were honest.
Waiting for the positions to be listed for those as they are available, just not yet in my area.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Dave_in_AZ and Puppage Thank this.

You will probably find food service to be the same.
I think most of those companies are looking for younger bucks because they want them in career mode.
You don't see many guys over 40 in either of those industries.
Passing a test, and slinging 20 to 40 thousands pounds of product every day are two way different things.
I typically fingerprint one or two trailers a week at about 15,000 pounds, objects are extremely awkward as well.
9 times out of 10, I have two Tylenol in my mouth before I start my truck.
I'll be 53 in June.Sirscrapntruckalot, Longarm, homeskillet and 4 others Thank this. -

The worst part is they would not even give me a chance.
The hiring process is in several stages.
I could not even get to the 2nd stage to even have a chance to prove myself.
I am cancelling my interview at a different location for this week as it is just a waste of time and fuel.
I guess I am going to have to suck up the fact that unless I want no life and not see my family for a year until I get experience, -

Trying to get a local job.
There gonna take everyone with some experience over you.
That other guy that's under 30 might have 5 years at
A mega or someplace else.
The company and thier insurance company are more
Comfortable with him. He's the safer bet.
You would do the same thing.Farmerbob1, Prof.Gringo, Tb0n3 and 7 others Thank this. -
