Am I the only one here who...

Um, no, but once, my boss told me to pick up a load of french fries, appt. time 3am. Apparently the boss, who was more of a friend I was doing a favor for, didn't realize, 1500 hours is 3PM!!! In a related retirement story, I did wake up from my nap around 7:15 once, it looked like it was getting light out, so I took my medications and hopped in the shower. To my surprise, it was 7:15 PM,,,oh well, retirement, I love it!.

 

Had a trainee get on 80 east in Pennsylvania when we were going to Spokane.

5 hours later he woke me and ask if he should go across the GWB.

 

I once parked the truck and went home, when I was doing local work, running 500-550 miles/day 2 load and 2 unload 7 days a week.
This was way before elog, one load got canceled and I made it home before dark, fell asleep on the couch at home, woke up, jumped up ran to pickup, Drove fast to truck, started it up, and was about to leave, when I noticed all the other trucks were parked.
So I looked at the clock and it was 6 pm, and I shut the truck off and went back home.

 

Once, picked up a load, hauled azzz with it. Got to delivery first thing Monday morning. Not a soul there. WTF? Called office, said what gives. Did I mention that it was a holiday? Plant closed for the day. Ummmmm……..

 

Me and my dad have done the same thing. Rate con said this day and the bol said the next. They made room for us both

 

After reading some of these responses...40 miles don’t seem like that big a deal. But now that I said something I will absolutely do something dumb now!!

 

You think that’s bad? One day(a Friday) got up at my normal time, did all my normal things before my night shift line haul run, got to the yard, walked into the drivers room, dispatch asked ‘what the hell are you doing here, your on vacation tonight’. Turns out it was one of those odd-ball dates I requested vacation, that I totally forgot about. Went back home, wife was pissed!

 

It was 2008, and I was supposed to go to Monroe, OH....from Columbus I believe...half way to Monroe, MI....I realized the mistake, called the Fleet Manager and told him about it. He said, well...you still got time to make it...so get on it. Doh! Moment.
