He had plenty of time to drive on the shoulder or into the weeds. Very stubborn driver.

Wrecked his own truck and ruined the other guys day too.

My guess is that in his inexperience, he locked up his brakes and lost any and all ability to steer Anyway.
And, for the record, I didn't notice a single Swifty in that video!!

Amazon gives "hitting it from the back" a new meaning.

I believe the Swift truck was jacknifed across the road just up ahead, causing the need to stop in the first place.

i was there that morning, Coming out of Blytheville and the CB Warned me of all that. Stopped at the Shell at exit 1 on I55.
Sat for about 2hrs and decided to just roll out up US61 and that was no picnic but it atleast moved. I managed to do about 150 mi. but took close to 6hrs.

Swifty's get alot of ribbing. I get it. Swift tends to have alot more rookies who don't know any better and lots of ridiculous crazy and stupid stuff happens as a result. That said, they, in reality, push being safe rather hard. They don't want you to chain up and prefer you sit out bad weather someplace safe, regardless of the load. They also allow drivers to stop if they don't feel the conditions are safe for them, once again, regardless of the impact upon the load. And, if you do so, they do not hold it against you, nor give you any hint of push back or retaliation. As a Swift driver for over two years I can attest to that. As a driver leader told me, they would rather deal with a late load than wrecks, equipment damage, injuries, fatalities, or lawsuits. Makes sense to me.
Regardless, too many rookie drivers get themselves in over their head without the smarts and experience to know when to park it. Or, the experience to maneuver a truck without hitting other stuff.
I wish Swift didn't have the reputation they do in this regard. But, they've been really good to me and have repeatedly earned my loyalty and dedication. Although I could probably get paid alittle better elsewhere, I make 54.5 cpm and that is not an unacceptably low rate. Given how they treat me, run me, and numerous other factors, I have no desire to drive for a different company. A significant part of that also has to do with the fact my wants and needs as a driver are unique to me and different than many other drivers. Best way to describe it is that it's more accurate to say I'm a traveler who drives a truck in order to travel.

I know ragging on Swift is a time honored tradition, but I see Amazon Prime drivers doing more crazy crap then all the other companies combined.

Yeah, but no one on here will admit that they drive for them.
