Hi Guys,
I've been speaking this week to both Canadian and American drivers. I'm noticing that there seems to be a lot less animosity towards brokers in Canada. Also seems that it's much harder to find work for American drivers. Now, there are some possible obvious reason for this.
1. The sample of people I surveyed was just not a good sample of American or not a good sample of Canadian drivers. Maybe the feelings of resentment are more or less ubiquitous amongst both countries but I didn't have enough conversations.
2. Canadian drivers are just more polite![]()
3. Canadian drivers are used to working for much less money. I don't have much confidence in this possibility, because the numbers they were giving me seemed to be a bit higher than the American salaries I could find. 45-50k a year.
Would love to here if any of you have something to say about the state of driving in Canada vs. the US. Even if it's not directly related.

A shipper I frequent in Edison hates the Canadians that come in. He tells us they park wherever they want in front of the docks and there are no parking signs. So it slows down his productivity as it takes all but five minutes to load a trailer once in.
Now he has to wait for the Canadian to come in, sign in, figure out why he's there, take a leak and then maybe move from the front of the docks.
Granted this is only one place, and I've had some relatively good experiences with Canadian drivers myself. -
Being from Canada, it would be easy to flip this around. There are poor drivers, and lots of them in both countries. All the american drivers I work with every night are awesome. One even offered to let me and the wife stay at his place when we came through on vacation. The make up of drivers in both countries has changed dramatically... I'll leave it at that.

$10.50/ hr in Canada
$7.25/hr in USA.
Minimum wage.
Keep going north and wages go up but so do living expenses.
Average usa driver gets to keep more of their money.
Cb chatter is better in Canada.
I love Canada.
I don't like how they have like 4
32nd st roads in the same town like Calgary or whatever. I mean wtf man.... XD -
You may be some what correct about the parking thing. I'm Canadian and I've commented a few years back how U.S. Drivers seem to park between the lines and Canadian tend to park hap hazard. My brother-in-law said its because down south you'd be afraid to get shot. Up here, what cha gonna do about it, eh?

A loader said Canada drivers were always picky about where to place the load and make him move it, while us American didn't care and always run with it. Not sure how much of that is true

Factor in $1 usd = $1.30 cdn or so. Our cost of living is not really dependant on the exchange rate. So when you convert our money into usd, Americans likely make more, on the average at least.

Should also make a differentiation for "new Canadians""
