It will remind you of reefer, lots of sitting and waiting, but sometimes a fun challenge. The routes some states choose though, it often feels like someone blindfolded threw darts at a rotating map on the wall lol.

Yeah, I've watched the guy who does 'Heavy Haul Nation' on YouTube...some of the routes they have him on make you wonder if the permitting people in some states even bother to try or are just phoning it in to make their 8 hour shift so they can go home.

Was talking to Mrs. Snackbar last night, and she said something out of the blue...she said that I haven't been the least bit grumpy lately...hmmm, maybe my bad moods and pissed off attitude was a direct correlation to the company I was working for. Worked for Crete, pissed off all the time, went to Poly, started ok, but being broke down and bouncing from loaner truck to loaner truck, pissed off all the time. Started with Magnum, was ok for a while, but as my per mile rate kept dropping, even with trying different routes and freight lanes, it turned to pissed off real quick. Big G...well, nothing good to keep me from being pissed off...Moore, treated good, and was happy, until Wylie f'd things up...then pissed off...Shaffer, same as Crete. Nanny'd and micromanaged and broke down tends to make one pissed off on a daily basis...now here, it is so much like Moore was. Treated like a professional, not micromanaged at all, given a good truck (so far)...basically it's night and day between Creaffer and here. The last message I got on the Peoplenet was last Friday. I talked to my dispatcher Friday afternoon, then sent him an update via text yesterday so I didn't tie up his phone for something he could read when he has a second... basically 0 nannying, hand holding or reminding me of anything. Just what I need...here's your load info, when/where it picks up and delivers(usually within a delivery window) and then...crickets...fuel where you want (at Love's or Flying Peelot), tell them when you're delivering in the delivery window so they can plan your next move...that is it.

Yes, I know how you feel. I am still quite happy at Cardinal. I get my load assignment via a text, go into the office and sign for the bills and away I go. Get there when I get there, do my swap, and come back. Only the flatbed loads are live unloads because we bring the skateboard back unloaded. Some of these trailers we have to work with be a pain at times, but my 3lb sledge usually will get the doors secured. LOL

Been home for 5 days and my boss texted me yesterday to inquire as to when I might be returning. I told him October and he sent me an LOLOL back. I then said I would be back Wednesday afternoon. No problem, no issues. Not perfect but I dont miss Walmart DCs and dealing with Shipping and Receiving Offices one bit.

Reminds me of my last DM and carrier:
    Super pros with minimum supervision.
    Dispatch request info (Y/N).
Once accepted, loaded and leaving message.
Last info provided was the border and the customer ETA.
    ETA updated once a day.
One day prior to delivery, when I'm ready to reload.
No other required info unless something wrong.
    Just pros.

Some drivers need micromanagement. The good fleet managers know how to determine what driver needs what level of communications. Certain “high profile” loads, at one point we had FM’s telling drivers where to park and when to leave the day of their deliveries.

I never had that happen to me and I don’t think it will happen to @supersnackbar

    70k/9.75 month=7.18k/month.
    Around 124 k/miles.
    Gross before taxes.
Vacation, holidays & OT pay included.
Not too high. Not too low.
    Satisfying.
For moving a loaded reefer up & down AB/CA.

Sounds like a normal trucking company lol. I’m surprised you settled for less for so long. I get dispatched 4 days at a time, about 3k miles a week. I can go days without hearing from dispatch. We haven’t hired anyone in 3 months apparently.

Crete still doesn’t know why I quit twice. Why? They won’t listen. Which is why I quit. They won’t listen. But they don’t know that.
