Well 2300 miles later and I’m setting down the street from my delivery. Not bad for 12 foot wide over the Christmas holiday in 4 days. Only had one morning run during darkness, and that was to get out of California before the traffic.

Now to the ####ty part. I didn’t think about it on Friday and I didn’t really have a good ETA at that point anyway but I may need an appointment to deliver this load tomorrow. My dispatch says nothing about an appointment, it just has a delivery window on Thursday.

This is a huge parts warehouse for caterpillar that has a lot of van loads and a lot of deck loads. The reviews on Google mention appointment times in several of them. Hopefully the appointments are just for the box jockeys.

The phone number on Google, my paperwork, and my dispatch (three different dumbest btw) are all disconnected. And since today is an observed holiday all of the office staff is off. So no one could help me. So I guess I’ll just show up and act like I know what I’m doing tomorrow.

One last load for the year. Unfortunately I’ll be a day short of delivering this year. That would have put me at 14500 miles for the month. 4D012C07-E87F-46BD-9B58-4157652284A4.jpeg

    Happy New Year gang.

So, for now, at the urging of my wife (and her medical needs) I will be with SPD for a bit longer than I like. My wife's blood sugar went nuts after her knee replacement, so her doctor has her tracking it with that Libre 2 unit that stays in your skin for 2 weeks. Overnight it drops dangerously low, during the day it goes way high. Until, he figures out why, she has to track it with the constant unit which is linked to her phone. Without the insurance, they're $150 each(essentially $10/day). Couple that with some of her other scripts, it would take at least a weeks pay to cover them without insurance. I also spoke to someone in the inner office who gave me some of the same advice as a lot of members on here - just ride it out and see if things change before jumping ship...so for now, I will eat a healthy helping of crow, with a side of personal pride and try. Again, before any of the naysayers start, this isn't an issue I have with SPD or it's people....I like the company and the people who work here. It's all about Wylie...and one change I know I won't like was posted on this weeks video forum...we're keeping the #### Peoplenet system after all.

Medical expenses are insane in this country. Since I suddenly and unexpectedly lost my medical card due to heart arrhythmia, I've been stuck in a factory job that I despise. Definitely line up something better before jumping ship. Going without insurance can bankrupt you in a few short weeks.

    SSB,

So sorry to hear about your wife. Many prayers for her to get the medical issue under control. Glad to hear that you and her have made a level headed decision on the job. Sometimes unforeseen situations cause a change in the decisions that we have to make. Keep a clear head and hopefully everything will work out for the better. I'm pulling for you and the Mrs. Happy New Year to you both.

We recently switched from peoplenet to orbcomm. Orbcomm messaging is way slower, they cant send you multiple loads at a time and you cant batch delete messages if there is anything in there you want to keep you have to go message by message to delete them

    JoeyJunk Thanks this.

    SSB,
Happy New Year to you and the rest of the hands on here. Hope the job works out to at least give you the time to research something else with the insurance plan that you need for your wife. Hang in there Boss!
