The white collars doing the firing know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

If the fired woman eased the anger and frustration of a driver so they ended up staying, then you probably save $10K in recruitment and training costs of their replacement. Not to mention better morale and productivity.

They fire the sake of firing.

Money has nothing to do with it other than their justification.

I think you probably need to sit down with a professional and work through some things.

Uh of the 4 people fired since the first week of January, zero, none, not one of their positions have been posted. They aren’t looking for replacements, those jobs will be absorbed by others. They just saved $3-400k a year.

Just wonder how long before some of the people that absorbed some of the responsibilities of those positions that were eliminated will be burnt out. When Travis took over dispatch duties when my 1st fleet manager departed it wasn't the same and thankfully they got additional fleet managers up and running to help. Now he is taking on the recruiting Manager duties...he has enough on his daily agenda as it is let alone doing Kim's job. But that is Wylie's style of doing things. When I was at Moore, my dispatcher was also the guy who did the ACI stuff for a lot of the Canada loads, he also was the only person in the glass plant office in IL so he oversaw the preloaded trailers, did the morning and evening yard check, did minor repairs on equipment, booked loads out of that plant, plus had 30 or so drivers to attend to...and Wylie wanted more out of him. In a way I feel sorry for the people in Arlington, Wylie can be slave drivers and will push people until they burn out or quit.

Gotta hit that productivity metric, I used to hate that crap, keep adding on responsibilities and then hammering people when they couldn’t accomplish all of their goals.

I’m sure in addition they’ll start getting called into meeting all the time as well.

Nah man, it is just a deep understanding of English Common Law and the concepts of Master and Servant.

This notion of employers and employees both having the same motivation- money, is far from the actual truth.

'Course money as the sole reason for every business decision keeps the simple minds satisfied.

Well I don’t know what all this
gobbledygook about English common law means, nor do I really care to find out. Back to trucking.

hauled these crates from CA to Wichita. The tarp job rode alright until I had to fight a 30 mile an hour head wind in Kansas today. Lost a few d rings on the front flap when it decided to have a party in the wind. ABF5224C-E58E-40B3-B427-635D42377564.jpeg F9B382EF-9C8A-4F08-AD4A-04DE2CDFB58E.jpeg

At the house now, heading to load a 16’ tall dust collector in KY on Monday. Rumor has it 1-3 drivers are quitting a day. So far, nothing has really changed for me.

I hear ya. Merging of companies and eliminating positions is a topic that superceeds just trucking.

Just what Wylie wants. New hires start at a lower pay rate so initially they net more...until those new drivers start having freight claims and/or accidents, then they'll be on the safety and recruiting departments about hiring less qualified drivers and threaten them to start hiring better drivers, or else.
