Well, mother nature doesn't love me as much as my wife. 15 minutes before I get to my 1st stop, the sky turned dark and she (mother nature) decided to piss on me. Get to the delivery, unstrap in the pouring rain, roll my straps, secure my lumber, go in and get my paperwork and tah-dah...then it stopped raining. At least it was a warm rain...ahh the joys of open deck trucking. Then this weekend, unless things change, I get my tarp cherry busted...after empty, head down to SC and pick up an elevator going to Rochester NY for Tuesday...Firm appointment, no changing it...and another one of our regional drivers is going up there too, and will do the unloading. I guess some of the dedicated drivers have those little 'hang off the trailer' forklifts, and according to the load info, it is loaded on a regular flatbed, not an aero-tarp flatbed...so, tarps away.

1st non-glass load. And by what my dispatcher says, it can be a wide array of sizes of crates, but he said they have a hoist you can use to lift your tarps, so I won't have to schlep my tarps up my ladder.

I always tell the forklift/crane guy to put them up there. I would never attempt trying to walk up a ladder with tarps. If theres no one around. You can unroll them on the ground and tie rope to It and throw rope to other side and pull them over that way.. If no rope.. Do the same procedure, except take a bungee and hook to a couple d rings next to another as tight as you can. Hook flat end of strap to the bungee, throw excess strap over and pull. These are much safer and they both work... hell I don't even lift my tarps off the ground anymore.

They have a tarping machine there. You roll your tarps out next to the trailer and drag them over. Exactly like this. https://youtu.be/qgWAafjyDFo

our load could look something like this. DF39B9F8-E12C-4B24-810C-AA63C43F135A.jpeg EB84CDB5-C228-4033-90B1-DC73557BD599.jpeg

keep the straps towards the ends of the crates or where there Is a vertical support in the middle. Don’t go crazy tightening the straps and crushing stuff like cardboard boxes. Remember 2-3 snug straps is better then one thigh strap and a crushed box.

it will. Don’t be afraid to move things around by hand. Like that cardboard box sticking up. I would lay it down somewhere, everything is labeled.

    We run manitou brand lifts.
