New load opportunity...drop my 53' conestoga on the yard, pu a 48' spread and load pipe out of Everett in the morning going to/thru Snow-ma-gaddon land...(Rodeo, CA) which is nowhere near Rodeo Dr...it's north of Oakland

*Update...pipe load cancelled. At least I got to come up here and get a couple prescriptions filled. Doctor sent in scripts for thyroid meds in a form most pharmacies don't stock, and because my doctor is on east coast time and we're on west coast time, they weren't able to get it straightened out before I had to leave the last time. And, I got to meet my travel agent face to face so I can put a face to a name. He's the 3rd Marine (retired) that I have worked for in my career...now I understand why his text message replys are often 'roger that'

53’s but who’s counting, right? I’m not sure if we have any open 48’s left. I haven’t seen one in a long time. We still have a couple of close to 20 year old 48 foot quickdraws. They are local trailers, they used to use them in Wichita. Then they got sent to wa to get sold, that was at least a year ago and one of them is parked behind the shop right now. That exact trailer was old when I hired on here 8 years ago. They told we it was being retired soon, we retarped it and kept running it.

I went back and looked at some of my old picture, this trailer may have been my very first oversize load ever. We had to pull the kit and lay it on the deck after the tarp exploded in the wind. I loaded my normal KS-ON/QC load and transferred the load in Toledo. That’s where we were getting trailers retarped at the time. 0D42BEC6-292E-48B9-872A-DECB01526C1E.jpeg

They had me pick up 408 for that pipe load that cancelled and it was a fixed axle 48, and there is a few other 48's on the yard. 408 is a 2014, so it must be one of the newer 48's they still have.

you are correct. I took a little walk this morning because they don’t have any local work for me. We have 4 48’ flats, one 45’ flat, and 2 48’ steps. That doesn’t count any of the specialized equipment, they are mostly 48’ trailer except for the 53’ stretch flats. That’s what’s in WA.

I get to play local driver for a few days. Got to practice my tent making abilities yesterday. Our three piece tarp system was obviously layed out by someone who has never used a tarp before.

The center piece tarp can be turned 90 degrees and you have a 24x18 tarp. The problem is the d rings are 10’ apart in the center so you have no d rings if the load is very short. In my case the extra tarp had to get tented and should probably get strapped down. No reason those d fringe couldn’t be spaced 8’ apart in the center. 841C1671-D41F-4661-9877-4E66AA451891.jpeg
    I know, typical driver, ##### ##### #####. Haha.
Edit: 5 48’ flats, they pulled one out of the shop.

4 pu stops, 4 delivery stops, the final is Goodyear AZ, that they want delivered by Friday before 14:00. Ain't gonna happen. My load info for my 2nd pu this morning said they open at 8am, got there at 8:15 and he said they don't load outside trucks until 9...finally got loaded there and went 100 yds down the road to my 3rd stop, in and out in 15 minutes. Headed 2 miles around the corner to my 4th stop and I sat in the lower office 30 minutes waiting to check in, then it's been 2 hours after checking in and the loader is just now pulling the load (TMX...some are great, some are not). Now there is no way I will make the final, especially since Mt. Shasta is predicted to get between 10-15" of snow tonight and tomorrow morning, so I-5 is gonna be a #####.
