Well it probably won’t win tarp job of the year but how well do you really need to cover something that’s belly tarped, covered with two layers of plastic, oiled, and in a crate? Hell it’s only going 460 miles. 140B821C-96C2-47FE-BB6E-1142EF1E181C.jpeg

It will probably take you longer to tarp and untarp and get them rolled back up than driving to the consignee.

That’s my least favorite part about big tarp jobs. Rolling up all the tarps at the other end.

Well, my growth in OD continues. After I get empty in the morning, I drop my RGN at our drop yard then bobtail down to Savannah and pick up a 64' curtain side trailer going to Weatherford, TX. @kylefitzy says it's also taller and slightly wider than our regular trailers as well.

D.Tibbitt, Lonesome and dwells40 Thank this.

Finding parking for a trailer that long with fixed axles all the way at the rear is gonna be fun.

Since these are dedicated to wing skins, is there some sort of a reload? Or do you just take a load from GA to TX and deadhead back to GA...

Just do what the steering wheel holders do. Pull into a loves and park along a curb at the entrance/exit or three deep behind the fuel islands in front of the shop lolike the loves in willis tx

The trip from Ripley WV down to just outside N. Charleston was mostly uneventful with the exception of the WV route they had me on to bypass that last steel girder bridge between Charleston and the WV turnpike. (My 1st high pole driver said they're reconditioning it and have all sorts of tarps and crap all over it lowering the clearance. ) The route they put me on was I-77 to I-64 w to US-119 to WV-3 to WV-94 back to I-77. WV-3 was a narrow 2 lane, and thankfully I had a lead escort that knew what he was doing and the people in that area are accustomed to trucks being on that road because they saw the pilot truck with the sign and flashing lights and pulled to the side or stopped short until I passed. It was refreshing to see some courtesy from 4-wheelers for a change, and every one of them got a "thank you" wave as I went by. There were a bunch of curves so tight on one stretch that it took both sides of the road to get this 48' RGN around. I looked at the map after I shut down, and there was a much shorter detour from the last exit before the bridge down to a WV route that takes you back to the entrance ramp just after the bridge, but maybe the lights or power lines were too low to route me on there. This morning I tried to pull some of the video off of my dashcam of the trip but it had already been overwritten. Guess I should have done it yesterday. Either way, it was a very scenic detour.

After we crossed into SC, my escort wasn't needed, so I was on my own. One thing is certain, I don't think I have ever payed this much attention to the clearance height of overpasses on an interstate in my career as I have with this load. In a way, going back to pulling non-permitted freight is going to be boring.
