Nope, they didn’t want me. I’m stacked up and heading back. 1650 miles in 4 and a half days. This group doesn’t work real hard and after my Covid break, I’m kind of an outsider now. Everyone has different goals, and that’s fine I guess.

loading 2 trucks, 4 escorts, and our two wing trucks is quite a cluster on the barge.

we floated past a 1000 footer so that was cool. IMG_5611.jpeg IMG_5610.jpeg IMG_5612.jpeg

Dang... interesting way to build a bridge...and looks like a nice calm day to float a boat...

And a thought crossed my mind, with the fuel tank where it is, and the issue with the hose coming out...maybe that's why you see so many new 680's with a bunch of the plastic trim around the opening removed.

And there were other parking spots available...numbnutz decides to park in a half a spot.

*Update - I applaud the Love's in Sikeston, MO....I politely asked the fuel desk if they enforced the 'bobtail only' parking spots, they said "what bobtail parking spots?"...when I showed them the pictures, they sent a manager out and told him to move, he was blocking the driveway. :hello1:

Already know what I am doing on my next load. The down side, due to the extra miles added to this load because of the oversized routes I had to take and a stop and go delay going around Nashville (on the route I had to take because I was oversized), my delivery had to be moved from Thursday to Friday. As of the end of my day today, since the 18th of July I have turned 7600+ miles, and it's another 380 miles to Pryor to deliver, all without a 34. I was gonna be 15 or so minutes short on my 70 to just make it to this loads delivery, and I have been optimizing my 'on duty' time as much as I can(as in not putzing around with wasting my line 4 time with excess load/unload, fueling and inspection times). And that is if going across southern MO on the assigned US routes doesn't slow me down too much. My next load is a LTL load. I head from Pryor, OK to Broken Bow OK and pick up a tractor from an auction lot, then head up to the Wichita yard and pick up one skid steer, take the skid steer to Casper, then take the tractor to Arlington. The tractor and skid steer were supposed to be picked up by tomorrow, and I was supposed to be in Casper on Friday (Wichita to Casper is more miles than I can run in one day in a 69.2 mph truck)...so now, I pick up the tractor on Friday, but won't have the hours on my 70 to make Wichita until Saturday. So they're having Rick come in on Saturday to load me and deliver in Casper on Monday, then I should be able to make Arlington by Tuesday afternoon. Seems like my new travel agent is picking up right were my last one left off, and since he also was a driver for SPD, he understands what goes on out here.

Yeah those guys have bigger balls than I ever will. It looked like all the sections were staged under the bridge. Once they got them up to the bridge deck level, they were attaching the support cables. That’s the best I could make of the process in the hour I was there.

That may be an explanation for some of the missing plastic pieces. I’m using bungees for the time being. I don’t know of at least one drivers truck that the plastic removed itself at around 100k miles. I plan on adding some nice button head stainless screws when I get a chance. I still haven’t installed my main radios yet.

Does Wichita ever let drivers load their own skid steers? I am coming up there Saturday to pick up 1 unit. Seems like a waste of manpower to bring one person in on the weekend for one. They could lock the paperwork and the keys in the office in an envelope (like Dave D does in Arlington) along with basic instructions on how to drive it, and I could load it, secure it, and leave the signed bills back in the office. Since they lock both the office and the gate on the weekend, things should be safe and secure.

Things got wild in Sikeston this morning. 2 am, I got a Thor wakeup call. Nice loud t-storm. Then just before I got ready to do my pretrip, all heck broke loose and it felt like a tornado was close by. The only time I have seen wind driven rain that bad was during a hurricane...these are stills of a video I took

    Dang SSB,

That looks like a real serious storm! I wouldn't have wanted to ride that one out inside a truck cab. Glad you're alright.
