I watched the news last night and it looked like the canopy from the WACO Travel Center on US 301 in Perry was fljpped over.
We leave Gunthersville, Al. for home in Winter Haven, Fl. on Sept. 9 and hope to find everything ok there. Glad you made it through without any serious damage SSB.

All the interstates are wide open already. My dispatcher is in Auburndale and said they got a bunch of storms from the feeder bands as it moved thru. Said electric power was typical FL power company, and went out early. But by the way he talked it wasn't any worse than the typical summer thunderstorms. A lot of Horseshoe Beach is flat. Cedar Key got 7-9' storm surge. I even saw a news report where a 100 yr old oak fell on the Governor's resistance. I finally got a few pics from my wife. We had a lot of limbs down in the front yard. Some as big as my leg. Gonna be a smokey area down there as people burn debris.JoeyJunk, 88 Alpha, Old_n_gray and 1 other person Thank this.

My dad and sister live in North Port Fl. Dad lost power no damage. Good friend has a second house in Clearwater. No damage and no loss of power. My sister-in-law lives near Keyston heights. She lost power. My wife is taking care of my mother-in-law in Orange Park, and it was just like any good thunderstorm.

CNC machine delivered and the customer is happy. So happy with my extra effort to protect his investment that he sent a couple of his shop guys out to help me get my tarps rolled up and my gear stored so I could get out of the heat. And I didn't refuse their help...now I am off to swap my empty with another driver who is dealing with a sick family member, so I will take the load he has to our Rancho yard and Mr. @The Block Robert will get that delivered next week and is setting me up with a load off the yard going to KS. So, all in all it was worth the struggle getting that machine delivered... everyone is happy, I didn't die from desert heat, and I am off to see the wizard in KS.
The Block Robert, Lonesome, JoeyJunk and 2 others Thank this. -
Just went thru some of the wildest weather I have ever been thru in the desert. Parked at the Love's in Casa Grande (Eloy) and the truck started rocking and shaking like I was in a hurricane...looked out my window and I could barely see to the end of the parking lot and a never ending stream of lightning in my mirror. Then the wind really picked up and this was the view
The bottom layer in the sky was a dust storm, the top layer was a severe t-storm inbound. It went from 94° to 72° in less than 20 minutes. Now, it's raining hard enough to rinse all that dust off my truck. Screw this desert weather...I'll deal with the occasional hurricane in FL.
And now I look outside and...all the lights are out(when the worst of the wind and rain have passed). Making me feel homesick.Last edited: Aug 31, 2023

Well they told me I have to stop being lazy and actually do some work.
Delivered in Canada on Tuesday, stopped back through the house on my way to Wichita. Originally I was going to cover engines to Savannah but I guess that fell through.
They found me a “light” load to NJ so I can load a container on Wednesday. I can scale 37k with a stretch rgn. The load only weighs 37.1k. They had it preloaded sitting in the warehouse when I got to Wichita. Strapped, weighed at the truckstop, and tarpped in the parking lot. Not bad considering I wasn’t there and our yard guy loaded it based off his truck gauges. He’s only loaded a few hundred of these loads, But every one is different.
