If they install ANY driver facing camera, I will invite them to do a colonoscopy on themselves with it (as in, they can shove it up their ###), and that goes for any company I work for, not just SPDGearjammin' Penguin, JoeyJunk and drvrtech77 Thank this.

I stand corrected. I though they use to pay for retarping on multi-stop loads, but according to Travis they never have. Not sure why I thought they did...it's not like it's more work to untarp then retarp, multiple times...why on earth would they have to pay us extra for doing more work than when we originally tarped the #### load to begin with. Silly me...going back to pulling a reefer trailer is starting to be more appealing every day.JoeyJunk Thanks this.

Ok, now this is totally ridiculous. Just got a fleet message that they are now doing drive thru inspections on inbound equipment. The ridiculous part is, according to the forum replay the other day, they only have 2 mechanics right now, and they are super busy doing truck decommissioning and new truck ready/prep... they're so busy that they push us to have services done on the road instead of our shop. So, now all of a sudden, they have enough time to stop what they're doing and do an inbound inspection? What if they find a problem, are they gonna have time to fix it, or will the equipment just be red tagged until they do have time. Don't get me wrong, with the adequate manpower, it's a great idea to do this, but when you can't get #### fixed as it is, why add to your understaffed workload.

Plus they don't have room for a drive thru bay, all the trailers brought in to have work done have to be backed in from the lot. So now what, we have to back in to have an inspection? Sounds to me like a Wylie protocol.drvrtech77 Thanks this.

The lines have been painted on the ground for the drive through bay for months. There is a path from the guard shack through the third bay from the end I believe. They removed the propane tank and all the Parking sport behind the shop to give ample room to exit.
we also don’t only have two mechanics. We have two TRUCK only mechanics, two possibly three trailer mechanics, an apu/electronics/truck setup mechanic, and Dan who runs the yard, loads trucks, and also repairs trailer tarp systems. Hopefully this will combat some of the issues with drivers dropping junk equipment in Arlington.
As for the tarp pay, you already get $100 for every load. A good portion of the fleet only gets $40, $60 if it’s a multi stop, and up to $100 of its over 14’ wide. Some companies pay for tarping and untarping separately, spd does not. So when you pickup a preload or drop a loaded tarped load, you get paid the full amount for half the work. I guess I’m just a glass half full kind of guy.
If they are paying you for extra stops on the daily rate program, I wouldn’t push too much. Stop pay is not, or was not originally, part of that program. I just verified with the document that was posted in June of last year.ncmickey, Lonesome, brian991219 and 2 others Thank this. -
I don't get paid tarping on proaded loads, unless I tarp it. And if they didn't pay extra for multiple stops, then I would throw a royal fit. There isn't a company out there that doesn't pay for extra stops. The longer I stay here, the less I like their b.s. I mean, I have never worked for a company that takes workers comp out of my check, workers comp insurance is a business requirement. Only worked for few that makes me pay for my own physical. I don't like forced per diem. I am surprised they don't make us keep an escrow account like some companies do for accident deductibles. And most flatbed companies provide at least short term disability at no cost to the driver, with the option of adding long term at the drivers expense...not here, if I want any disability thru Daseke, it costs and arm and a leg. I can make this kind of money pulling a refrigerated trailer, why in the #### would I want to risk blowing out my back or my knees or getting a bungee to the face for no better pay.Last edited: Sep 8, 2023
