I think you hit the nail on the head with the driver facing cameras with the phrase "for now", I would tend to agree that it is only a matter of time before the higher ups make it mandatory that they are in use in all Daseke vehicles since it seems that all of our trucks are owned by Daseke Leasing now. Pretty much will be "it's our equipment and we will equip them how we want, like it or leave"

Plus, I think the Daseke grand unification is beginning. I have heard other say that they wouldn't be surprised if there were only a few Daseke companies once they group all "like" companies together, and I think that could be the case taking shape. When they went public and retired Mr. Daseke, they should have been forced to change the name to New Daseke because there really isn't much left of what Don Daseke originally built.

If the units have microphones are they disabled? And are they planning (if you’ve heard) on using AI to “actively coach” or will the cameras be event driven?

AI driver facing cameras with active coaching can be horrible, nothing like a 20 something that has never driven a truck giving you advice on something you already have corrected…

If any of that comes about, it will be done at a typical Wylie/Daseke pace, as in gradually, a little at a time to minimize the risk of a mass departure of drivers. When they changed things at Moore, it was done like that, and that's where I used the phrase "frog soup" to describe their management style.

They only have border enforcement for people coming from the U.S. I think it’s friggin nuts they literally have checkpoints built across the interstates in case the Okies come again.

Just watched the Samsara training videos...and by what I gather, the camera is a nanny crutch system that I believe will be more of an annoyance than the crash nanny system installed on the trucks currently. Now we'll have the truck beeping at us if it thinks we did something wrong AND it appears that they'll have the camera system telling us when it thinks we're doing something wrong. It would be cheaper to hire a nanny passenger to ride with us and nag at us all ####ing day.

And according to the video, ONLY the provided driver facing camera cover can be used. It has a specific color pattern that the camera sees, if anything else covers the lense it will be considered blocking the camera which is a violation of company policy.

And, when going over the app login procedure, it clearly stated that E.W. Wylie is not currently enrolled in the ELD HOS portion of the system...E.W.Wylie, not SPD or Daseke...it sure looks more and more like the gut feeling of us being assimilated into a division of Wylie is slowly turning into a reality. Why don't they just come out and say it instead of denying it until the last possible minute before the dreaded event.

Cause they need to keep drivers ariund. They know they will lose some when they fully integrate. If they do it slowly it is like frog soup. They just do it little by little so you dont notice and jump ship
