Yeah I’m 1600 miles away from home myself and since i have to be home by Friday we’re likely just going to end up getting something that covers fuel and then cut me loose to deadhead. Hopefully they will do something similar for you and get you rolling tomorrow.

Heck this dealership (Inland in Tolleson AZ) is packed by so slow that I’m not even sure that the work they are doing will get completed. I suggested they just turn off my idle timer and let me get the bunk heater fixed back at our yard in KY early next year, it’s not like I’ll be driving the truck over the holidays. Ah the drama of trying to get home for the holidays balanced with trying to make a buck…even though you know it will all work out it’s a frustrating sleigh ride along with way…

Idle? What is this idle thing you speak of? It doesn’t matter how hot or cold, this truck won’t idle more then three minutes without hitting the brakes or throttle.

Wow, at least we can idle over 95 degrees but because some would abuse it there is no lower limit which is why i needed to get my bunk heater fixed. I stopped working on a chilly 22 degree night which is no bueno for me, though I may just hope for a southern run and just deal with it if this slow as molasses dealership doesn’t get me truck into the shop!

The truck is only supposed to shut off between 20 and 80. I’ll address it when it goes to the dealer for the first time. I’m not too worried, the apu keeps up and the bunk heater works well.

good luck with your repairs. The fuel fired bunk heaters are pretty simple. Probably a screen or igniter issue.

Finally got a load. Pick up a jet engine from Carrollton, TX going to the far side of Columbus, GA. Says I have to have aerospace engine experience (which I don't have) and it's a tarp load...I thought they had their own custom made tarps for their engine cradles...either way, it's a load close enough to home and I will be off the rest of the year.

My fleet manager said he had the new pay package explained to him...and he doesn't understand all the complexities of it. And agrees with me that there is no way driver's will make more money unless they live in the truck or have many loads with a dozen stops. So I guess this is one step closer to being full blown Wylie. The attitude we Moore drivers got when we went thru the same b.s. was that they didn't care as long as recruiting could keep meat in the seats...it's really starting to feel more and more like the same process that is going on here, only at a slower pace since we are producing profit and Moore wasn't.

Well at least you’re styling and profiting with a jet engine, enjoy the ride home:)

Only way to get experience is to do it. Some basics:
Nothing over the engine but a tarp, no straps or anything. You secure the base of the stand, under the suspension only. Nothing above the suspension. The engine must be free to move going down the road.

hopefully you have bungee rope or some sort of rope for the ends. Ideally no metal hooks should be touching the engine. Guys that only haul engines only use bungee rope. That’s how I do it. You can use bungees on the side.

Did they give you a model number? I believe the bottom is a PW-1100’s. I can’t remember the top but it was slightly larger.

a lot of guys just run chains through the fork holes. I use the securement rings on the sides. On a step deck it’s easy to put a strap or two across the base for piece of mind.

I usually idle while doing a pre-trip, pee-break, some times while fueling on the run. Our's will idle for 5 +/- min's unless it's over 100° and below 20°. Nonetheless, my truck is gonna be necked before I get 200k on it. Rumor was that the next trucks wont have all the plastic.
