This has been in effect for a while up here in NY. State Troopers were having a field day with using one car on the side with it's flashing lights and another laying in wait. Car doesn't move over and zips right by the parked one? The second trooper comes out and you get a nice little ticket.

Now that the POS Eric Adams want to cut DSNY and NYPD overtime funding, I fully expect the cops to not give a hoot about anything anymore and the garbage/snow to pile up in the winter months.

The acquisition by TDI looks like any other in any other line of work. We get a ton of new management in thinking they can run things more efficiently, and have mucked it up more than ever.

Case in point, our tool room guy used to be in charge of ordering up our reels of copper cable, 4-5" tubes and other related material. Some genius in Stores decided it would be great to combine all depts in our yard and let Stores handle everything. They are understaffed with 3-4 people and 2 more who are pretty much out the door. Our materials for jobs have gone empty, the trailer holding our cable is pretty much bare and the material we needed for a big job in Queens has yet to arrive.

All so some new management person can do their 'one thing to improve the company' so they can get their bonus and move up the ladder for next year.

Happy New Year to you SSB and everyone here on this site. I wish everyone a very healthy and prosperous 2024 and be safe if you are celebrating. I am taking my bride of 44 years out for dinner tonight to celebrate and we'll stay home for the new year.

That's been needed since before Jeb was the Gov. The State Senate and House passed that bill, but Jebber wouldn't sign it into law....and neither would any Gov since until now.

You do the same. I'll probably celebrate this New Year as I do pretty much every New Year...in bed, asleep.

Boy I’ve been running around like a headless chicken ever since I dropped that super load on the 21st. Grabbed an empty oversize trailer in GA and went to KS. Bobtailed to TX and picked up a loaded oversize. Took that to GA, unloaded and reloaded it back to TX.

another driver preloaded a different oversize trailer for me so I dropped and hooked and I’m on my way back to GA. Had to go around AR and AL due to holiday restrictions so this route is about 350 miles longer than normal. Should drop on Sunday, then go pickup another preloaded oversize a few hours away.

another driver loaded that last week and drove 650 miles to the customer, they were closed for the whole week. He had to take it back to our drop yard, about 15 miles from where he loaded it. Wasn’t the drivers fault though, customer ordered the truck without confirmation the receiver was going to be open.

Even with all the restrictions over two holiday weekends I’ve only lost less then half a day traveling on Christmas Day. Left Fort Worth and had to shutdown before I entered MS. Maybe it’s good Karma for all the weekends I spent babysitting wings in a truckstop parking lot in the past.

I’ve been trying to kick a cold since Christmas. I rarely get sick, so I’ve been acting like a real ##### this week. Went and got some pseudoephedrine, that stuff did wonders for my cold. It also made it impossible to sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time. I didn’t take any yesterday and slept 8 hours straight through. Woke up feeling like a new man.

I have gotten where I dread holidays. It used to be, I would run like you just did so it made working the holidays productive. Lately though, I usually end up sitting around waiting for the holiday to end, so I am gonna start planning my home time around holidays. I mean, if I am gonna sit around with my thumb up my butt, may as well do it at home.

This whole pay plan switch b.s. has changed my whole perspective on driving...I am now viewing this as a job, not a career or a lifestyle.

I’ve had pretty good luck the last few years working through Christmas. Last year I had 14k plus in December with no carry over miles. This with it will be almost 13k with a 10 day 3600 mile superload right in the middle.

This year just kind of worked out with what was ready, when. These skin trailers usualy don’t move this efficiently. Usually it’s one 2100 mile round trip a week with a live load/unload on each end.
