However, if your ELD is obviously malfunctioning, is the driver not required to keep paper logs? And if the carrier does not file for an extension but the malfunctions keep happening, what happens then? Who is at fault? Can a driver be penalized for the inaction of the carrier?

I sure don't see where it specifies that the driver must correct the issue, and it would seem to me that it is incumbent upon the driver to continue to use paper logs until the carrier gets the issue resolved.

Mainly, I think it would be humorous to turn paper logs into the company that apparently puts the eld technology out to the lowest bidder.

I found out why they changed my appointment to today. Delivered to a very busy construction project. And this is the location I had to drive thru

And there were worse sections. I have a mud streak on the lower front part of my bumper. At times, while unstrapping, I was over my ankles in mud. I didn't even try to roll my tarps on the ground, I did that on the deck. While I was winding up my straps with my winder, just the short time I was standing still, the mud would grab your feet and hold on. The guy running the unload said yesterday it was worse. I wasn't even 1/4 unloaded and dispatch calls asking if I was done unloading yet...I laughed. They needed me to head up NE of Stockton to pick up by 14:00 and be in Richland WA by 15:00 tomorrow. I told them no ####ing way it was possible. That is over 850 miles, in 55 or 60 mph states, and some of the travels are on US97...no #### way, especially since it would most likely be between 11 and noon before I got empty at my current customer. He said that if I couldn't make it to WA by 15:00 tomorrow then I would have to wait until Monday since they aren't open on Friday or the weekend. I asked what gave him the idea that I gave a flying fornication about sitting any more...he said I was the only one who could run hard enough to have a shot. I reminded him that the guy he was confusing me with no longer works at E.W. Smokey Point Wylie Distributing Inc, LLC. Since the pay cut, I won't bust my ### to make these people more money while being paid less. I no longer run like that for this company. So, they changed their mind and asked me to attempt to pick up that WA load, but meet with a driver who was getting some work done at a Love's shop an hour from the shipper and swap trailers. He'll haul the load to WA, and I will head south. I have put in for home time around the end of the month, and they will get me moving east instead of north. He seems to think that my most recent grumpiness is from being out here 2 months and that I need a bit of home time rest. I told him that my grumpiness stems from all the changes this company is going thru, and all the ######## issues with the fuel card and Sam-crappa, not from being out here. And a few days at home won't fix it.

My company is either going woth samsara or motive. Told the guy that was looking at both about what samsara was doing with the location. If they go with samsara i will do what i do now just certify the logs. If it.puts the wrong location thats a fine the company will have to pay

Yeah, I heard he's a whiz at stuff like that...and he tolerates my occasional endless ramblings.

They have me just deadheading to Rancho from the trailer swap in Patterson. Saw something unusual here at this Patterson Love's. The parking lot lights are on a motion sensor dimmer. If nobody moves within a certain period of time they go to a low light setting. At first, when I was talking to the driver I was swapping trailers with, one did that, and I thought it was just going bad, then we moved and it came back to bright. When I went to use the restroom, all the lights I approached got brighter. I've seen that in warehouses but never in parking lot area lights.

Probably like that due to the NIMBY folks in the area.
