How in hell do people get their CDL if they can't negotiate corners any better than that. They weren't even close to clearing that corner as far under the trailer that pole is.

And they say their hiring standards haven't changed...:(

That’s one of the reasons why we have been having various issues the last few months here with the new eld system. We have some very mediocre people taking care of these systems that literally don’t have the answers to why they are not working correctly.

that being said I have turned off my tablet in the truck and have gone to exclusively using my phone for samsara. It seems to be working pretty much 100 percent correctly. The tablet has never picked up a geofence at my customers but my phone typically has.

they have corrected the issue with sending in paperwork, they made a change that required you to send in the BOL at delivery, and only at delivery. There was no way to send in our trip sheet. Now we send in the trip sheet using the “documents” tab that they originally told us to not use. In typical SPD fashion they made the change, then about a week later they put out a video explaining what to do.

Not so much the workforce in general, but the idea of who the hell wants to get involved with this industry? All a new wannabe driver says is, “how hard can that be, I can do that” winds up in for 6 months then washes out quickly. The hiring pool is what you see in the picture. And all one needs to research is the endless complaints about said industry right here on TTR. Fog a mirror, you’re hired. And trust me, it’s not just the driving part, people inside that were working at the local Walmart, answered an ad for an operations management position with training and have no idea about trucking, are just as much at fault.

When I was young I became enamored with trucks and in the late 80’s I was fortunate enough to be able to drive a local route with an old Ford C8000, man I thought I was so cool - best summer job ever lol.

After retiring and deciding to give trucking a try for real I can say the first few years were not all that bad, but yeah lately the change is making me really look forward to the day when I can hang up the keys. Society has decided jobs like ours are just low wage roles going to the least skilled workers, you increasingly have a hard time as an owner paying out living wages with the cost pressures, I mean we talk about fuel all the time but wow insurance costs are going up all the time and rates at large shippers are dropping. And now with more and more drivers coming into trucking requiring trucks do everything but back up for them, those of us who have been here for awhile wonder why we can’t seem to get “drivers” anymore.

What SPD is experiencing with the takeover is just another symptom of the change, the corporate mantra of increase year over year profit at any cost is driving change in our industry, heck even my doc quit our health system because of the changes in his corporate leadership so it’s not just trucking that’s being impacted.

Ah well, there are still sunny days where you get to drive through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country and even though I don’t get to shift anymore its still enjoyable driving..for now I’ll hold onto that.

If it geofences, then I can send in all the paperwork, if it doesn't then I had to occasionally go thru documents. The other day, after manual arriving, sending in the b/l and doing a manual depart. I rolled out. On the way home from Wildwood the next morning it popped up a message (4 am eastern) saying I had a new task. When I got home I checked, it was then asking for me to scan in the b/l...that I scanned 15 hrs earlier.

On Tracy's instructional video he said to make sure we update our trip and/or trailer info when we swap trailers or start a new trip....mine drops the trailer number whenever I reboot to fix it's location glitch or sign off and back on. This morning I signed off and back on to have it update the logs that I approved from the portal and both the trailer number and the trip number (empty since I deadheaded home from Jupiter) were gone. I wonder of the drivers that might have been caught without that info actually had entered it but their system deleted it and they didn't notice.

If they want me to use a phone for their ######## eld app, then they can provide me with a cheap smart phone, I refuse to put their tracking crap on my personal equipment.

What a pain. I’m glad my company provided me a company phone to run this on. I usually don’t have any issues like you guys are running into.

If we're using that instead of the company tablet for the eld, it has to track you so it knows where you are when you do a duty status change.

I still say it will be easier to move to another "non-daseke, non-samsara" company than tolerate all the b.s. we have to go thru for them work out all the bugs.
