Still sitting, and can't get an honest answer about when I will be moving again. I wonder how pissed they would be if I deadhead home 700 miles. This is totally ridiculous.

7 full days under a load, not including how long operations had the inbound load booked, and still waiting for a reload at the delivery end. This right here is what drove me out of my mind.

This is why I kinda want to see how dispatch works. See how far out loads are booked, how the planning goes down, etc. Mainly so when I'm sitting waiting, or things go sideways I'm not fuming at the wrong person lol

    JohnBoy and dwells40 Thank this.

Someone explain to me why trucking company management groups aren’t using some form of Artificial Intelligence to assist their lazy, inattentive dispatchers or better yet, replacing them entirely?

In short it’s the cost of training the model and the data required, it’s coming, and will likely start at a mega who has the data and cost reduction opportunities to make it worth the effort.

Not trying to carry their water but until YOU book loads for your truck you really ain't got a clue. That's how it goes when you're truckin for profit. Times are tough and have been for a while. I've done 700 miles or more for nothing back to the house more times than I care to remember. Never done it when I wasn't paying the truck's expenses though, good luck with that.

Back when I was at Crete (the 1st round) they had an algorithm that chose loads based on driver location(proximity to the shipper), driver's available hours, and/or any hometime requests. The humans in dispatch had to comply with the computer recommendation something like 70-80% of the time. It was an attempt to increase efficient equipment utilization and reduce favoritism by dispatch. And this was in the early 2000's.

The problem has been solved with getting me moving. After a brief discussion with Toledo, we determined that the problem was they were focusing only on loads to get me home. I told her that anything to get me moving, towards home or not. I messaged my FM on 6/3, on the way down with my Genie load, that I was going to be available on 6/6 at 10 am, and open to extending my hometime date in order to make it easier to get reloaded and productive so I could get another decent mile load in by the end of the pay period. Apparently, either my FM didn't note this(he said he put a notation in the system), or his notation got removed/truncated because neither sales nor planning saw any such message. (I have verified that the message about me not having tarps is in the system, which it is) Once I said that, I had a load 10 min later. I have a 2 location JLG pickup in PA delivering to WI and MN by Friday.
