If you are picking up in Bedford Pa. you will half an hour from my house. I heard they load fast there. Good luck!

Pickup 1 was McConnellsburg, pickup 2 was Bedford (on Sunnyside). Timed both perfectly, 1st one I was the 3rd truck there, 2nd one I was the 2nd truck getting loaded. Although they loaded me at an actual door slammers dock in Bedford. Both were on my trailer and done within 15 minutes(each). I really like hauling this type of equipment. I griped earlier this week about our partnership with We-lie not benefitting us load wise like they said it would, so guess who's load this was...yep it's a Wylie load. Managed to load and secure both and get almost to end of the IN toll road today before shutting down.

The early 2000’s didn’t have Artificial Intelligence. As someone who is naturally skeptical about computer hype, this new A.I. is blowing my mind. I broke down and subscribed to the full powered ChatGPT once I saw what it can do and it’s like having an assistant for the cost of Netflix.

Convoy claims a 45% reduction in deadhead miles. Uber Freight claims reduction in idle time by 50%. Loadsmart claims a reduction in total cost of 20% from better load matching and optimization - All from using A.I..

There’s really no good reason for human dispatch anymore.

My company's dashcam (which is connected to their tablet) is one of those AI cameras...it #####es, er, I mean coaches me. It tells me to slow down when I am not speeding, it tells me to increase following distance when I am sitting still in bumper to bumper traffic, and it keeps score. At some point they'll probably use the stats to justify taking bonuses away. If an AI dispatch system works anything like that, it will be booking round trip freight from the mainland to Hawaii or from Kennedy Space Center to the ISS...I wouldn't trust any non-human based dispatch system.

Schneider had a primitive model 15 years ago. The computer system would look thru the available loads picked the best one for the driver, some liads were given a higher priority because of who the customer was. They computer then sent it to the planner and they sent it.

Dispatch is just a series of binary - yes/no decisions. It’s perfect for this.

Are you on time for the drop?
Do you have the hours (using recap) available for the next load to x?
If not, shorten list to loads that do, plus 5% time margin.

Rinse and repeat. All working 24/7 with perfect knowledge of where you’re at instead of goofing off at the water cooler.

It also ensures there won’t be any favoritism. I’ve lost count how many dispatchers I’ve known who do that - losers who couldn’t do our job but get off on the power trip of messing with our income. Say you caught them in a lie or a F-up, said so, and now you’re forever on the C team.

The main complaint I’ve heard about those cameras is that they don’t understand context. If your seatbelt isn’t on, you start moving 2 mph and put it on two seconds after moving, you’ll still get dinged.
