With my luck, you’d be reading about me in the accident section if I was hauling fuel.

Tbh fuel hasn’t really been one thing I’ve wanted to do. I look at food grade tanker the same I do reefer, it’s needed because people gotta eat.
Chemical hauling because it’s needed to help produce things.

I enjoy doing LTL, but would seriously consider getting into chemical, food grade or pneumatic hauling again if the right option came along.

I watched the video on 2x speed.
In summary; blah blah blah corporate corporate corporate. Your vacation time will be automatically cashed out after one year. You can only roll over 40 hours of sick pay and I already have 67 earned. Looks like I got an unexpected illness coming up next time I get by the house.

I watched it for about 5 minutes, then my A.D.D. kicked in and I felt like I was listening to the teacher on a Peanuts cartoon. Whawwhaw whawwhawwhaw whaw whawwhawwhaw.

And in the 2 years I have been here, nobody told me we get paid sick days...

Just looked at my most recent paystub and it says I have 70.23 sick hours. Does sick time have to be done at home with a doctor's note? If not, I could have had them pay me 30.23 hours of sick time for this weekend's 34 because next Sunday is my 2 yr anniversary

You sound a bit like me. After my wife died her savings account at the bank was frozen to me, but I discovered that they were obliged to pay her funeral expenses directly from it, never even sent the bill to me. I debated this with my French neighbour who was very helpful and we decided that it ought to work for the headstone that I ordered as well. 'Might do' she said, and then I had a brainwave, 'I wonder if Fran would like a new car?' upload_2024-7-13_10-54-55.png 'I think that might be pushing it a bit far' she replied. She was right, and I have to pay for the headstone myself as well, but it is half mine, room enough for 2. upload_2024-7-13_10-57-5.png

I know vacation is based on your hire date. I think she said the sick pay is based on the fiscal year.

we haven’t always had sick pay, I think it’s a WA forcing them to give us sick pay.

I checked my past pay statements, when they forced me off the daily rate and on to per mile, they added a PTO/sick line. And it was @ -40 until May's 2nd check where it split to sick pay (with a positive number) and vacation with a -40.

I’d go back to hauling heavy equipment if the money were there.

The current gig isn’t bad and certainly provides a good living, but being able to load and unload myself all day long with no need for unnecessary contact with other humanoids would be the icing on the cake.
