Yeah the media has to make things look dramatic to keep the viewers lol and nothing helps folks that don’t deal with hurricanes understand them better than a reporter leaning 45 degrees to try and stand up lol.

I remember back in the 80’s in the Bay Area we had the battle of the weather reporters. All female, the hem lines kept creeping higher and the tops only got tighter! As a young man I can assure you I made darn sure to watch the weather coverage on a regular basis :).

Maybe this is why I saw this guy is on Fox News now rather than The Weather Channel

Still haven't gotten a load yet. With the weather that is incoming, I doubt I load anything around here. The outer bands are starting to spiral in, so it's downhill from here. Told dispatch that if they don't find something by 12:30, I am headed west past I-95.

There has already been one weather related fatality accident with a semi in FL. Driver lost control, went over a guard rail and into a canal. Divers recovered the body sometime later.

Talked to dispatch, they had a load, but it requires risers...which Arlington decided to have removed from most of these stepdecks...so I suggested they check the Ravenel yard to see if any trailers there would either have risers or a conestoga flatbed. He said with Toledo out of the office today, he would have to check with the others in Arlington, so now I sit a little longer.

Have you found the thread about the Werner trainer who crapped himself? That'll keep you laughing for a while.

Got out of Charleston and up 95 to Summerton, SC. Fired up the APU and it started, but the generator isn't generating properly. I have a small room fan connected to the generator plug to help circulate air to the front of the truck. It spins so slow I can count the resolutions and no a/c fan. You can hear the condenser fan cycle, just no inside fan. I may just deadhead home and throw in the towel. I have never worked so hard to end up this broke. When they switched me off the daily rate plan, I should have packed my bags and left then rather than slowly draining my savings working harder for less money.

But my company's VP proclaimed that I would be making more on the per mile plan they forced me on to (even after I showed him the numbers and proved that claim wrong). One thing I can't stand is a liar. You got bad news, spill it...but don't lie about it. Now my respect and trust for this Wylie wannabe is shot. He'll fit right in as a Wylie exec.

Called breakdown about the APU, he said it is most likely a generator capacitor failed. Had me run up to Columbia so I can have Carrier look at it in the morning. Hopefully it's a quick fix because they put me on a 2800 mile hazmat load to WA. Fortunately I know how to keep my truck running so I can have some a/c. Management is just gonna have to forgive a night of idling (and the driver across from me will have to excuse my headlights being on.
