I can’t argue with you on the complaining part. I totally disagree with idea that workers deserve a share of rising profits just because they work there. Raises should be based on performance and what value they actually bring to a company. If you want more money, make yourself worth more money. Simple.? I think so. You would too if you actually had to pay an employee.

 

And spaceX has to fix Boeings problems. Spacex had to send a rocket those astronauts stranded by a bad Boeing rocket. Spacex employees are quite wealthy even the janitors

 

I'm assuming that the chart is Boeing's profits. What it doesn't show is stock buybacks, which have continued despite everything. What else has continued? Executive and board raises. Rough math says the C-suite and the board have averaged 18% annual raises since 2019. That's a little misleading because of the CEO's 30% pay raise between 2022 and 2023. It's hard to claim penury when spending lavishily on executives. How long would your employees stay if they see their income stagnating while yours is going increasing exponentially?

 

Fortunately a number of executives and managers are in the mix. Definitely a good start.

 

To be fair stranded is a strong word, it was always their retirement flight...not a bad way to end their careers I knso I'd gladly swap places with them.

Of course I fully expect Boeing to axe the Starship program.

The divergence we have is "workers aren't creating value" and "executives/shareholders are creating value". I have no problem with any individual standing up and saying "my contribution is worth X" and taking action to get there.

 

I’m not saying workers don’t create value, but I am say all workers don’t create equal value. Collective bargaining is just that; collective. It’s not fair to the company or to the individual employees to reward those who do the bare minimum. That is fundamentally un-American. This is my issues with unions. Sure there are a lot of hard working, skilled tradesmen in these unions, but there is also a lot of dead weight. And these huge labor contracts protect those employees. One could argue at the expense of others.
