If i worked for you I would be a grievance filing machine!
No satellite radio in the track hoe? Grievance
No Dukes mayonnaise in the office kitchen?
Grievance
Being harassed by a moose while on a jobsite?
Grievance
No bug a salt gun for a Christmas bonus?
Grievance
No company issued Anytone or Stryker cb with a Skipshooter antenna?
Grievance.
These are unacceptable working conditions Oxbow and I would nominate @ElmerFudpucker as steward to negotiate our demands.

If they were making more here than they could elsewhere they would stay until that wasn't the case. Employee wages are not, nor should they be, proportional to corporate profits. If a company chooses to provide a profit sharing program then that is the extent to which profit and wages should be related.
Top management sells their value to the stockholders. Labor sells their value to management.
There was a time in my line of work where having a union equipment operator meant having the best. That is not the case now. With no value added what do the unions sell.Rugerfan, brian991219, MAMservices and 5 others Thank this. -
That would be a helluva negotiation party!

Bob: "So, you personally make the products your company sells?"
CEO: "No, that's the employees."
Bob: "So, you personally make sure the shop is running smoothly and the employees are doing their jobs?"
CEO: "No, that's management."
Bob: "So, you personally sell the products?"
CEO: "No, that's sales."
Bob: "So, you personally sign the paychecks?"
CEO: "No, that's payroll."
Bob: "What, exactly...would you say...you DO here?"
CEO: "I run the company! I steer the ship! I take the big risks!"
Bob: "So, if you steer the ship in the wrong direction and the company tanks, that means you're broke?"
CEO: "No, I have a $100M golden parachute..."
Just throwing that out there.Warrior Pump, Rugerfan, hotrod1653 and 6 others Thank this. -

I've never been in a union, don't know much about them. One of my best friends, he and I worked for a pipeline and grading company hauling equipment for 20 years. He is now working in a union, he hauls cars mainly but almost anything at times for the movie industry. He's been there several years now and from what he's told me you are dead on. He said if you're good at what you do and don't mind working crazy hours you really never need the union as far as staying employed. When he's finished with one show another one will pick him up. He said nobody wants to call the hall and say send out a truckdriver that can do special equipment because you my get someone that's never driven anything bigger than 3/4 ton pickup. He said the union is a joke and that industry would be better off without it in his opinion.brian991219, Lonesome, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming -
Made it to Missoula yesterday with 5 1/2 on my 70 after turning 3655 miles (and 2 extra stops) in 7 days. I am gonna do a 34 here because I won't get but 3 1/2 back Sunday night, so it would be real tight to make Arlington from here without one. I will leave at midnight local time and drop this between 8 and 10 Monday morning (they wanted these trailers there by 0800 but I told them it might be a little later than that). Woke up to 38° this morning, and all the leaves have started to change, so fall is in the air. When dispatch called me to tell me I was coming up this way I said "oh goodie, one more trip to the NW before it starts snowing". Gotta get the APU serviced and an A service on the truck, and probably have my satellite system removed...so no more live tv, just Amazon Prime...which is gonna suck because we told Netflix where to stuff it when they raised their prices the last time, so when I run out if interesting shows on Prime, my 34s are gonna be mighty boring.Knucklehead, Rugerfan, brian991219 and 2 others Thank this.
