Unfortunately it was one of the first casualties of the Ukrainian war…it was certainly a masterpiece.

The only thing the phone does is communicate with the samsara servers online. There is no direct connection to any of the gps stuff on my phone.

    Oxbow and supersnackbar Thank this.

So do you change duty manually?

It changes automatically between on duty and driving. When you stop to do like a post trip or what have you and open your phone it’ll ask you if you want to remain driving or go on duty.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

That's how the company tablet does it, but it has a direct/dedicated WiFi connection to the truck's ECM. I wasn't sure if my cell based tablet would do the same thing since it isn't a direct connection.

    Oxbow and Rugerfan Thank this.

Everything is the same. Instead of connecting to the internet via cell signal the tablet uses wifi. The only drawback I’ve found with using my phone is in very limited situations where I have zero signal I can’t change duty status. The truck automatically changes to driving and when I get signal it will update but if I still don’t have signal I can’t change out of driving. Then I will boot up the tablet. This has only happened once the time we have had samsara.

So instead of the truck sending it to it's tablet directly (and to the server), it bounces it off the server to your phone? I am trying to nail down where the error is happening. If you look at the logs on the tablet, it's screwed up, but log on to the online portal, the logs are right. So it's either the gateway or the app on the tablet...

    Oxbow Thanks this.

And we have been assigned 2 safety video packets this month. I got the previous one done yesterday...now I see another in my inbox.

    Lonesome and Oxbow Thank this.
