Yep, the B/L comes from the manufacturer, but where you pick up is a 3rd party's storage yard at an alternate location(kinda like SPD does for the skid steer plant in Wichita). The b/l has each units VIN number so they can verify they're loading the right equipment. I even carry blank generic SPD b/l for situations like what @Winnyf1 mentioned. I even had to provide my own b/l for that battery powered EV charger I hauled to the Boston area a while back. It's not uncommon in the open deck world.

We often create our own BOLs in the driveaway truck transport segment as well. I pick up a lot at unattended lots, where I have a combination to the gate, find my truck, create a shipping paper and leave a copy in a box in the office trailer and away I go. I love it that way, very little human interaction.
Even at the attended facilities, often I will have to print, or at least electronically, show my pickup paperwork which also serves as the BOL for the shipment. I still have a huge stack of Daimler Truck blank BOLs from when I was moving them new out of North Carolina.
Even when I was running car hauler full-time, most of my work was emailed to me from the auction so I had to print my pickup order, which served as the BOL, to show to the repo yard or dealer where I was picking up the vehicles then I also had to print my own gate pass to get outbound units out of the auction.Knucklehead, dwells40, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
When I was hauling glass, I used to have numerous generic b/l templates partially filled out for rack returns (depending on which plant they were being returned to) on my phone. Many of the glaziers we delivered to didn't have b/l available for returns, so all I had to do is put in their name as the shipper and how many pieces and print them out.

Day one of using my old SIM card in the company Sam-crappa tablet and it successfully put the right location in every time I stopped. So, it is either the gateway connection or a miscommunication between the ECM and the tablet somewhere. It freaked me out a bit. Since this SIM card was assigned to a phone and not a tablet, I wasn't sure how T-Mo was gonna handle the increase in data usage. I looked at the cell usage last night and it was at 56, this morning it was at 82...what I didn't notice at first is that it is calculating by MB not GB. So, without any other real usage besides load info and elogs data, I don't think they'll have any issues with the amount of data I am sucking up.

I have finally had enough of paperwork access issues...I went ahead and bought the cheapest HP printer Walmart sells. I think I spent less on a new printer than I paid Love's for all that incorrect paperwork the broker sent for the Galveston load. Now, if all goes like it usually does, I won't have any more loads that require me to have preprinted paperwork to get loaded.

@kylefitzy, how much of my cell phone bill do they reimburse? Poly used to do $50. Since I am using MY sim card to fix their Sam-crappa issues, I am gonna start making them pay for some of my bill.
