Well that’s one way to get out of colorado with flatbed freight…

the calm before the storm (or princess parking, it’s the only way to plug in at the yard right now.) I’ll head out at 330-4am to load a tall one in Oklahoma. After getting the truck washed first, there’s a blue beacon 6 miles from the customer.

I think they are both the same. Plugging into shore power turns the inverter into a battery charger. Since my apu doesn’t have a generator, all my cooking is done with the inverter, which is less than ideal. Plugging in fixes that problem. There’s even a cord in Wichita next to the building.

Whenever I got push back from a receiver about being unloaded my go to response was "okay, mark it refused and I'll take it back - I get paid the same either way". Amazing how the grumbling stopped and the unloading started.

With Boeing being shut down for the last 2 weeks of the year, and the slowing economy, Toledo says freight is DEAD!!!! Having the year end holidays in the middle of the week are the worst. Hopefully something appears before the weekend, but it looks like the 1st week of the new weekly pay is gonna be a bust.

Just after I posted that, Toledo messaged me and said sales found a load. Pick up in Ocala in the morning going to Pasadena TX for Thursday.

And I also found out that I hadn't been added back onto the OD board. So she sent safety and the OD board an email about it. And my FM is out of the office AGAIN....he has to be someone's relative, of have a critical disease he is being treated for... that's the few things that would prevent someone from being terminated for missing this much time

Maybe that’s where your FM is…

No load for me today. They decided to wrap this load and we are not tarping it. The customer up north complained that the load showed up covered in frozen road spray, in Canada during the winter……

maybe tomorrow, I give the wrap two days before it’s toast. Hopefully I’m wrong.

I hope they wrap it better than my customer. I got to my pickup 30 min early and they back me right in and loaded these

    PXL_20241231_215833134.jpg

They were wrapped with what looked like wide plastic wrap you put over leftovers. My load instructions said tarp, the shipper said no tarp. So, after he noted "no tarp required" on the b/l, I proceeded to secure them. I asked about the plastic wrap, and he said he doesn't know why they wrapped it. I didn't make it to the Ocala Love's and the front one was shredding. After I cut the wrap of it, I found out why. Each unit has 2 boxes of something that is in an industrial strength trash bag, that were being held on by the shrinkwrap. So I ended up taping them to the support pole and then put a bungee around them. The 2nd and 3rd unit got the plastic reinforced by a roll of clear packing tape, and about half of the plastic is still there when I stopped for the night here in Niceville FL. I only have 570 miles to go to get to the consignee, and it delivers between 8 and noon on Thursday.

I checked up early to get some rest. After a week at home, that 1st day back on the road is a #####. Besides, now I can start after the amature drunks are either passed out of crashed out. I don't worry about the pro drunks that drink on a regular basis, it's the amateur drunks that only drink on holidays that I am concerned about.

    Happy New Year everyone.
