There weren't condo trucks in the old day. 36" coffin sleeper or a cabover weren't a lot of fun to spend a day or 2 in. No tv's, internet, or video games. Different world now.

I started driving back in 1969 and yes there weren't all the frills that some drivers are used to today. No bunks, a/c, p/s or auto trans. The Pure and Union 76 truck stops had driver rooms on the second floor that were a single bed and a chair with an alarm on the wall to set but they were like $5-10 a night. Those were a luxury if you could get one of those rooms as most nights were spent on a piece of plywood and pillow that was across the seats with the windows open in warm weather or the engine on and the heater running fan on high when it was cold. You also could afford a good hot meal in the sit down restaurant. I am 75 and can still remember those days and appreciate every one compared to today.Knucklehead, ncmickey, dwells40 and 12 others Thank this.

Go on. Next you'll be telling us it was made of actual food!Knucklehead, dwells40, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.

In the olden days, when you would stop by the roadhouse for a sarsaparilla, for 2 bits, Miss Kitty would let you sleep in an upstairs room over the bar, and it included an indoor stable stall for your horse, and for another 2 bits she would send a workin girl up to "massage your back".

But seriously, I remember the old 76's that TA took over having the old bunk rooms they converted to shower rooms. They were roomier than the J or Pilot shower closets and some even had their own thru-the-wall HVAC so you could set the temp of the room to your liking.Knucklehead, navypoppop, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this. -
@navypoppop are yall at the new place in Dothan yet? I slide by there almost weekly bringing rock back to Florida.

I did pop into the restaurant attached to the TS and had the all day brunch buffet. I was wanting a cheeseburger but the buffet was the only option. It was good, I ate entirely too much, napped the rest of the day. Sometimes it’s hard being a truck driver.
I came over to the loves in box elder to get these #### trailer lights looked at. I’ve been blowing fuses ever since I picked it up and now the 3 ID lights on the back are not working at all. Of course I check in at 7 am and there’s one mechanic and 3 trucks and a road call ahead of me. Joy.hotrod1653, Knucklehead, motocross25 and 3 others Thank this. -
Did they change the company speed limit? I was coming down one of the Sister's downgrades in WY today. I am super lite, so my jakes were holding me at 72...and the nanny-cam started to repeatedly nag me to reduce speed.(To which I repeatedly ignored her)the variable speed limit sign was set to 75, so I know I wasn't speeding.Knucklehead and hope not dumb twucker Thank this.

Wyoming was behaving itself for the most part today. There was some blowing snow from west of Rawlins, around Elk all the way to Arlington WY. Nothing dramatic, and the solar powered state trucks were dropping some dirt on those areas. Then a little hit and miss blowing snow for about 20 miles after the top of Sherman. Been a chilly day. I didn't get above freezing until I was 20 miles into Colorado. So I made it to within 30 miles of the final delivery, and have to wait until 10 am on Wednesday for a crane appointment to unload. A crane for a 3000 lb commercial pizza oven (that our shop loaded with a big forklift).

Sounds like a detention day to me!
as far as I know they haven’t changed anything on the speed limit. I’ve only had that camera tell me to slow down one time. I was doing the speed limit on some random back road in an industrial area.
got the lights “fixed” on the trailer I swapped to another driver. We couldn’t find the short so we stole power from the tail light circuit. Good enough for a 8 year old rust bucket I guess.Knucklehead, hope not dumb twucker, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this.
