Nah, I stopped at Walmart in Gallup and got me some 1/2 lb steak burgers that I am throwing in the air fryer...
Once I am loaded and rolling on my next load, then maybe I'll celebrate with a 2 piece and a biscuit

Having to switch from that conestoga to this open step, then tarping (in the wind, and getting muscle spasms in my back) cost me a 34. If I would have kept the conestoga, I would have turned a couple hundred miles on Thursday. Then I could have made it to Rancho by Saturday evening, and I would have had a full clock to start on my next adventure. So that extra $75 tarp pay might end up costing me a longer run next week.

Sounds like an excuse to me. If you were that concerned you could have pushed through the pain for 3 hours.

I mean you do work for a flatbed company that doesn’t keep people married to trailers.
drvrtech77 and ElmerFudpucker Thank this. -
But it takes very little intelligence to look at the loads, look at the available equipment and say, "since both of these trailers are going to load and deliver to the same customer, why not let the person who is pulling one of them stay under it". It makes no sense to make driver drop a trailer, then send that same trailer over to have it loaded by a local guy and brought back to the yard. I could see dropping it if it was needed to load at a different customer that requires a curtainside...I just know it didn't improve my overall opinion of the central region's planner, or his abilities...hope not dumb twucker, dwells40, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this.

That’s why they swapped trailers. Local drivers would have had to tarp the load or leave it untarped and risk a claim due to weather.
The trailer swap was better for the overall operation but you did get the short end of the stick on the deal. “Its not personal, it’s just business”hope not dumb twucker, gentleroger, IH9300SBA and 5 others Thank this. -
3 other open deck loads were picked up by the 2 local guys while I was there(one was being loaded at the same time as the conestoga), not one was tarped before they left. And according to the shop guy, they didn't have tarps available. So I guess they must have had to pull them in the shop since they didn't have tarps. My personal opinion, if a giant sinkhole opened up and swallowed that entire property, I wouldn't miss a minute of sleep. I won't miss that place after I leave.hope not dumb twucker and Knucklehead Thank this.

And this right here is trucking in a nutshell. The driver is just a tool nothing more. Nothing personal just business.hope not dumb twucker, DonRobbie and Lonesome Thank this.

If you chose to pull a flat bed you will tarp loads, pull a reefer and deal with unpaid wash outs and grocery warehouses. Pick your poison.
