Well my load is on hold due to some customer issues. So I’m getting caught up on some much needed maintenance. New steer tires, apu and heater service, and I’m going to try to pick up a set of air filters for my truck.

The wife and I are still in Pensacola for 2 more weeks and can't believe the weather. I'm sure it is a cycle but still don't like this crap anyway. We woke up to 26* this AM and our forecast is calling for 3-5" of snow by Wed. We sure are using a lot of propane just to keep the temp near 70* inside the 5th wheel. It could be worse though. Looks like Jacksonville is going to get 1/2" ice and no snow.

    GAF Materials

I found out this morning, we no longer have to tarp non-roll loads out of there. Which is good because I was having fun trying to keep straps from doing a u-turn and blowing back over the load before I could get them tucked into the rub rail. We need to stop buying the Boomerang brand of straps. :D

Very nice, of course the shipper would make that change about the time of year tarping shingles actually kind of makes sense.
So much for staying out of the snow. Tonkawa, ok. They were crashing left and right on I 35. IMG_7674.jpeg

    Tarped shingles?

Years ago, I worked for a guy with about 12 tractors, and probably 40 flatbeds. We were the in house carrier for IKO shingles, out of Bedford Park, Il. The only time shingles were tarped, were if they were loaded on one of the 2 curtainwall trailers we had. Otherwise, a strap over the side by side pallets, and off we went.

From the reviews of the shipper. Tarping to protect the packaging, especially if going into a retail environment makes sense to me. We often tarp to keep things clean or then we do to keep things dry.

Actually, the shipper says no tarps, at least at the location I was at. There are 2 in the area. When you check in via the QR code, it asks which location you're picking up at. The 1st time I picked up here, it was the broker that said we had to tarp. But I agree, this time of year, tarps would keep the winter schmutz off the product.
