your fleet manager can do it, there’s no setting that you can change yourself. That’s assuming he decides to work that day. I’m sure drew or safety can do it as well.

 

One down side to hauling an RGN, it limits what options for freight I'll have once I get empty, but it also might end up being a longer deadhead to pick something up. Or else they'll have me drop my wagon at the WyDog yard and pick up a regular trailer.

 

Are empty miles paid out at the same rate as loaded miles? If so, does it matter how far you bounce? I understand the greater good of the company though.

 

It's the same pay, but, for us regular OTR drivers, they usually only deadhead a long way after sitting a while.

 

I know I typically reload at keen in Savannah or sometimes bounce up to Dundalk, md. Last I heard the next set of containers isn’t coming in to nj until mid February. Kind of a long time to keep you in the area. But I’m not sure how the regular otr guys are handled on the east coast when they have an rgn. Your favorite guy in Wichita always takes care of me as a sales man and planner.

Maybe you will get luck and they will give you an oversize to Equipment East in Dracut, ma. Good run, done it many times, but that ma route blows with a rgn. They send you right through downtown Lowel, ma and it’s tight. With tall sharp granite curbs.

The difference between you and me is, my favorite guy in Wichita is not only your boss, but he's the guy who recruited you, so he's gonna keep you moving. Plus, with all your years pulling OD, you're unrestricted on what size they'll assign to you. I'm still on the lower tier of the OD board, so I am limited on what they'll assign me.

A load out of Keen would be nice. Other than that one messed up load of excavator buckets, I have had a good experience with them.

 

Keen can be hit or miss but I’ve also had good luck there, just pack a lunch. Rgns go all the way to the back before you make two lefts and and wait at the stop sign. They will wave you up and tell you where to stop. Drop your neck and park behind the trailer.

 

I've only loaded a flat or step out of there, never an RGN.
