I know you’ve said many times you’re getting out of flatbed, but…. Have you heard of IMT out of garner, iowa? They have around 200 trucks like SPD, I’ve never seen them with a tarp load, and they never posted one on social media. They mostly do roll on roll off loads on stepdecks with ramps, which I’m sure is a good workout. No collision mitigation, pretty much all large cars,
Seems like a real old school place. They build their own trucks, ect. They have a yard in Selma, Al so not to far from you.

I know they are on my short list of companies if this train truly goes off the rails. I mean how many companies put drivers in a large sleeper truck with a shower and toilet? They just built around 10 of these last year.

I know IMT is around .50 per mile. They are pretty strict with social media as far as pictures go. Seem like a solid place to work though. Can run a glider if you live in the Midwest or east coast. Have to run a DEF truck if living on the west coast.

Not sure I remember seeing any of their trucks on the road. I may have, just didn't stand out to me

Yeah 50mph in 2025 is pretty crazy low. Then again I technically only make 56 cents base rate plus 10 cents perdiem.
There logo is pretty small. IMG_7747.jpeg

I see their trucks out on the west coast every so often... the problem with the low pay is you really have to have a competent dispatch to make u any money. If they have sitting waiting for loads the paycheck really suck and make burger king jobs look comparable. I was able to make over 95k last year at .56 per mile because my dispatch is fantastic, but it is a grind to say the least... I found it quite difficult to find a decent paying job in the current market , even with a clean record and good work experience...

I almost went to work for rgm transport out of PA, they are expanding into Arizona but it didn't work out because I only really want to run out west. I even met the owner ryan, who seemed like a standup guy . They seemed like a good outfit maybe worth the call

Hell, Valley makes more than that hauling Ag equipment. I wouldn't work for a company who has more interest in buying fancy show trucks than paying their drivers a decent pay rate. When I was paroozing thru the Crete/Shaffer/Hunt site a few weeks ago, Hunt pays a penny more than what I am making here to start (if I stayed open deck).

And after 10 yrs, why are you making a lower base pay than me? I am at .57 and .10...I would be pitching a #### fit.

Base rate is only one factor, I’m capped out at the 11 year seniority. (Maybe I make 67 now? My paystubs are a #### show for some reason) Total compensation, not including 401k match, I did $1.23 per mile last year. There’s a #### good chance I’m the highest paid driver in the whole company.

You are fortunate your hard work has yielded you a nice niche roll in trucking. With your verifiable experience you can go many places and make similar money.

Cost control is king in our industry today and salaries are slowly being normalized to help companies better predict and manage their profits. Like the Springsteen song says, “these jobs are going boys and they ain’t coming back”..

Your non-OD pay is still the 9900 mile salary, isn't it? Then you get the big pay bonus for any miles over 9900, and then OD and super load pay above that?

I’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop for a while now. Most of the guys I work with are pretty open with what they make. We are all in the low to mid low 100’s, except for the guy who has to be home every other weekend. He’s only around 90k but that’s by his choice. He’s a wing driver/ some times local/ helps with the skid steer warehousing.

yes, but the salary and bonuses only add up to around 10k per year vs straight mileage. I ran around 20 sets of wings last year and several other od loads to Canada at $250 a pop for crossing the boarder with an od. It’s a bunch of little things that add up to the total gross pay.

Even though the wings are not my favorite trip because it takes 3.5-5 days to get 1550 miles, the guaranteed backhaul of 1200-1500 miles back to Wichita or texas really keeps us moving. As @D.Tibbitt said earlier keeping the truck busy is the key to success. And that seems to be the biggest issue here at SPD for SSB. I’m very isolated from the way the planers and FM’s work for the rest of the company. Clearly something is not working for the general fleet.
